12 Nov 2025 - Important Changes to the Google Workspace for Education Terms of Service


Google has recently implemented an inactive account policy within the Google Workspace for Education Terms of Service. Accounts, i.e. your @s.eduhk.hk and/or @friends.eduhk.hk accounts, that have not been accessed or logged into within a two-year period will be deleted, and all associated data will be removed. Deleted accounts and associated data cannot be restored.

31 Oct 2025 - New Microsoft 365 Storage Quotas for Staff and Students Effective 14 Jan 2026


New Microsoft 365 storage quotas for staff and students will be imposed on 14 Jan 2026. Please refer to the emails sent on 31 Oct 2025 for details.

Colleagues are recommended to utilise Microsoft Outlook Online Archive to store older messages and manage their mailbox quota. Please see https://www.eduhk.hk/ocio/content/faq-how-use-microsoft-outlook-online-archive.

30 Jun 2025 - Release of SPSS 30 and Amos 30

SPSS 30 and Amos 30 is now available for staff and students. To ensure uninterrupted access, users currently on SPSS or Amos version 29 or earlier should upgrade to version 30 by 31 July 2025. The new installer and installation guide can be found here.
19 Jun 2025 - Guidelines on the Booking and Use of OCIO Sound Booths Updated 

For the fair use of university resources, the guidelines on the booking and use of sound booths managed by OCIO are updated. With immediate effect, each user is limited to two booking sessions of one hour each per day. This change is designed to maximise availability and allow more members of our community the opportunity to benefit from the facility.

27 May 2025 - End of Support for Microsoft Remote Desktop App 

Effective on 27 May 2025, the Remote Desktop app is no longer supported by Microsoft. Staff who would like to access their office computer at home, please visit here for the updated instructions.

7 Jan 2025 - Retirement of GlobalProtect VPN on 20 Jan 2025

In line with the rollout of the new Secure Sockets Layer Virtual Private Network (SSL VPN) on 11 Dec 2024, OCIO will retire the GlobalProtect VPN on 20 Jan 2025. To avoid any disruption, please transition to the new SSL VPN as soon as possible. Please visit here for details.
