The Joint Universities Computer Centre (JUCC) has launched a Wi-Fi network service in the eight JUCC institutions by the end of September 2009. The service, building upon the newly developed Wi-Fi infrastructure, allows the students and staffs of the member institutions to use their Wi-Fi enabled devices to gain access to Internet at the JUCC Wi-Fi hotspots.
EdUHK students and staffs can configure their device with SSID "Universities WiFi" and log on the wireless network at the other seven institutions using their account username and password (NB: Account username in the format of UserName@eduhk.hk). Similarly, members of other institutes can use the SSID "Universities WiFi" available at EdUHK.
The JUCC Wi-Fi network service supports WPA/TKIP with IEEE802.1x authentication. In near future, WPA2/AES with IEEE802.1x authentication will also be supported in all JUCC institutions.
Configurations for setting up wireless network profile (802.1x):
SSID | Universities WiFi |
User Name | UserName@DomainName (e.g. kwcheng@eduhk.hk) |
Authentication Mode | WPA |
Data Encryption | TKIP |
