FAQ: Why Dreamweaver hangs when using FTP feature?

If you found that Dreamweaver CS4/MX 2004 hangs when using FTP, it may due to the Windows XP firewall block the connection. You need to enable firewall rule for Dreamweaver in Windows.

Procedures:

  • Click "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Network connection"
  • Right click Local Area Connection and choose Properties.
  • Change to the Advance tab, click Settings…
  • Change to the Exceptions tab, click Add Program…
  • Click Browse..,
    • For Dreamweaver CS4: Choose the file from "V:\English\Adobe\CS4\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\Dreamweaver.exe

    • For Dreamweaver MX 2004: Choose the file from "V:\English\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Dreamweaver.exe


  • Then click OK for all remaining windows
