The settings can be varying from file to file but we recommended you to use the following basic settings to obtain an acceptable file in both size and quality.
- Open the Acrobat Distiller. Click Settings > Job Options from the menu bar.
- In the Job Options windows, switch to the General tab.
- Select Acrobat 4.0 (PDF 1.3) from the Compatibility's drop-down menu. (As embed Asian font is an Acrobat 4.0's feature. You should use version 4.0 or later to enable this feature).
- Check the option Optimized for Fast Web View. (This minimizes file size and facilitates page-at-a-time downloading.)
- Uncheck the option Embed Thumbnails. (It can reduce the file size).
- Check the option Auto-Rotate Pages: and select Collectively by File. (This will automatically rotate all pages in the document based on the orientation of the majority of text.)
- Adjust the Resolution value to 600 dpi. (This resolution is enough for most documents).
- Next, switch to the Fonts tab.
- Check the option Embed All Fonts. (This makes the file look exactly like the original file on every system).
- Check the option Subset embedded fonts when percent of characters used is less than:. And adjust the value to 100%25. (This can help to reduce the size).
- Do not add any font to the Always Embed: area within the Embedding Group. (This result in larger file size with unused font embedded in the file).
- For the rest tab settings, use the default setting. Then enter the new profile name (i.e. my setting) after click on OK or Save As.
- Now you can use this profile setting and start to convert PDF files.
