To connect to a file server directly (e.g. N drive or S drive), use the Connect To Server feature of the Finder.

Procedures:
  1. Make sure you are connected to the campus wired network, if you are connected to the Wi-Fi network, you have to connect VPN beforehand.
  2. From the Finder menu, select Go -> Connect To Server (Alternatively, you can also press Command+K to launch Connect to Server.)
  3. Enter a net path with the following syntax:
    • For N Drive: smb://email.ied.edu.hk/staff/home/{login_id} (e.g. smb://email.ied.edu.hk/staff/home/kwcheng)
    • For S Drive: smb://email.ied.edu.hk/share/s/{dept_code} (e.g. smb://email.ied.edu.hk/staff/s/OCIO)

  4. To add the server to your Favorite Servers list, click the ‘+’ button.
  5. Click Connect to connect to the share.
  6. Select Registered user and provide your EdUHK login id and password. Then click Connect.

  7. Once the connection is made, the share you have access to will appear on your desktop.
