Macau and Hong Kong Inclusive Education Exchange Programme

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) recently (3 March) organised the Macau and Hong Kong Inclusive Education Exchange Programme with the Macau Education and Youth Affairs Bureau. Visits to mainstream and special schools in Hong Kong were arranged for Macau education officers and management staff to keep abreast of the latest developments in inclusive education and thus enhance cooperation between the two regions.

The programme was coordinated by the Centre for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education (CSENIE) at EdUHK. A group of 30 led by Mr Alexis Tam Chon-weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macau, with the attendance of  Ms Leong Lai, Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, and officers and principals of Macau primary and secondary schools, visited the HHCKLA Buddhist Po Kwong School and China Holiness Church Living Spirit College. They had the opportunity to gain field experience and share their views about special education with local principals, frontline professionals and students.

Professor Kenneth Sin Kuen-fung, Director of CSENIE, welcomed the exchange group, saying that “the Centre takes much pride in being part of this knowledge transfer process through the provision of exchange programmes and promotion of academic exchange”. He added that the Centre would hold more exchange activities of this kind in future to promote inclusive education.
