President’s Commendation Scheme (PCS)

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) considers it vital to encourage students’ active engagement in co-curricular activities so as to build value systems and personalities, broaden horizons and absorb knowledge from alternative and non-traditional sources.  The President’s Commendation Scheme (PCS) was introduced in 2010/11 as a University-level recognition of students’ non-academic achievements.

Areas of Commendation and Entry Requirements

Arts and Culture
Represented the University or individual in external activities* with outstanding achievement.

Community Service
Completed at least 100 service hours with demonstrable record and outstanding achievement(s) in external community service

Leadership
With proven leadership and achievements obtained in external and/or internal organizations/activities

Sports
Represented the University or individual in external activities* with outstanding achievements.

Innovation, Science and Technology
Represented the University or individual in external activities* with outstanding achievements.

* External activities include but not limited to creations, competitions, performances, exhibitions and publications.

Level of Recognition
There is a two-tier structure in the level of recognition:

President’s Commendation (校長嘉許狀)
For students with impactful non-academic achievements in an area of commendation mentioned above. While the spread of awards among areas may be adjusted according to the performance of the candidates, a maximum of 10 awardees (including individuals and groups) will be selected every year.

President’s Appreciation (校長表揚狀)
For students with exemplary non-academic achievements in an area of commendation mentioned above. While the spread of awards among areas may be adjusted according to the performance of the candidates, a maximum of 25 awardees (including individuals and groups) will be selected each year.

Eligibility
All full-time EdUHK students with satisfactory level of academic performance and student groups comprising full-time EdUHK students are welcome to apply.

Application for PCS 2017/18
(Please read the Application Guideline before applying)
Each applicant is required to obtain at least one recommendation from a referee (Appendix A-Recommendation Form). Completed application form, together with all required supporting documents, should reach the Student Affairs Office (B4-G/F-01) by 12:00nn, 01 December 2017 (Friday). Late or incomplete application will not be considered.
