The Sports Development Section at the Student Affairs Office offers various certificate courses with the aim to enable students to develop their professional skills.
Introductory Basketball Coaching Course 2026
The Sports Development Section of the Student Affairs Office at The Education University of Hong Kong, in collaboration with the Basketball Association of Hong Kong, China, organised the “Introductory Basketball Coaching Course 2026” at EdUHK from 5 to 21 June 2026. The course aimed to promote and enhance the training knowledge of basketball coaches in Hong Kong, and to train more coaches to serve schools and the community. A total of 42 participants completed the programme.
Participants learned about the knowledge and attitude required of coaches, coaching principles and essential guidelines, as well as teaching skills. On the offensive side, the content covered warm-up and stretching, footwork, ball handling, receiving and protecting the ball, ready position, dribbling, passing and catching, set and jump shots, lay-ups, and one-on-one offensive techniques. On the defensive side, key topics included defensive footwork and concepts, stance, denial, help defence, switching, boxing out and rebounding. The course concluded with practical assessments on demonstration skills and presentation ability, allowing participants to apply what they had learned.

Local Level 1 Volleyball Coaching Course
The Volleyball Association of Hong Kong, China successfully organised the Local Level 1 Volleyball Coaching Course at The Education University of Hong Kong from 24 May to 28 June 2026. The course aimed to cultivate volleyball coaching talent and promote the development of volleyball in Hong Kong. A total of 28 participants completed the course.
The course was divided into two main parts: coaching theory and coaching techniques. Participants gained essential knowledge and practical skills to enhance their coaching ability.
