GloMED Project with University of Lapland

The Education University of Hong Kong is partnered with the University of Lapland on the Global Media Education (GloMED) project, which is funded by the Finnish National Agency for Education.

The GloMED project seeks to develop a joint study course on Global Media Education through collaborative knowledge exchange between experts, and is based on the collaboration between the two universities in the UNITWIN/UNESCO Network on Teacher Education for Social Justice and Diversity in Education.

To date, EdUHK has welcomed Dr Satu-Maarit Korte and Professor Mari Maasilta from the University of Lapland on three separate occasions, between December 2022 and April 2023. During the latest visit, Professor Maasilta delivered a public seminar on the dangers and promises of social media from the point of view of media educators. The following June saw representatives of EdUHK make a week-long visit to Rovaniemi, in northern Finland to continue work on the project.

EdUHK President (Designate) and Vice President (Academic) and Provost Professor John Lee Chi-Kin is Principal Investigator for GloMED, with Professor Kong Siu-Cheung, Dr William Man Yin Cheung, Dr Lau Chaak Ming and Dr Wang Lixun as Co-investigators.
