EdUHK E-sports Management Experiential Learning Appreciation Ceremony and EdUPreneurs Networking@Cyberport Successfully Held

The Academy for Educational Development and Innovation (AEDI) and the Centre for Pre-incubation and Outreach (CPO) of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) jointly hosted the “EdUHK E-Sports Management Experiential Learning Appreciation Ceremony” (the Ceremony) and the “EdUPreneurs Club Networking @ Cyberport” at Cyberport on 20 March. The events marked an important milestone following the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between EdUHK and Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited in November 2025. Since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, which aims to translate university led research into real world applications, EdUHK and Cyberport have worked closely together. Within just four months, the collaboration has moved from framework to concrete projects, demonstrating effective industry–academia synergy.

As a major segment of the Cyberport Interactive Recruitment Expo (the Expo), the Ceremony showcased the outcomes of collaboration between EdUHK’s Master of Arts in E-sports Management (ESM) programme and Cyberport-based esports enterprises. The ESM curriculum is designed in alignment with industry needs and through the support of Cyberport and CPO, promoted students’ participation in experiential learning placements. Partner companies included Asia Motion Esports Limited, GCA Entertainment and Yesports, offering students hands on training and workplace exposure in event operations, team management, digital marketing and business development.

Professor Ken Yung Kin-lam, Associate Vice‑President (Knowledge Transfer and Sustainability), delivered opening remarks in the Ceremony, “We are grateful to Cyberport and the participating e‑sports companies for providing valuable experiential learning opportunities for EdUHK students. This collaboration, made possible with the strong support of AEDI and CPO, exemplifies the strategic partnership between EdUHK and Cyberport. It strengthens the connections between academic knowledge and industry practice, build pathways for students to transition from campus to industry, and advances the University's efforts in nurturing innovative talent and promoting industry–academia collaboration.” Professor Yung and Mr Terence Leung, Cluster Lead of Digital Entertainment at Cyberport, presented certificates of appreciation to the Cyberport esports companies and awarded certificates of learning to the students who participated in the experiential learning programme.

Dr Carman Leung Ka-man, Programme leader of ESM, shared, “With the rapid development of the esports industry, there is growing demand for talents who possess both management skills and business acumen. Experiential learning enables students to gain first-hand workplace exposure and practical experience, enhancing their competitiveness while providing direct feedback that informs curriculum design and teaching.” Students also shared their learning experiences, while company representatives commended their performance in project execution, communication, and innovation.

Following the Ceremony, the “EdUPreneurs Club Networking @ Cyberport” brought together EdUHK instructors, students, startup teams, as well as Cyberport companies and ecosystem partners. The event featured entrepreneurial sharing, resource-matching and company visits. Two founders from the food technology and financial technology sectors shared their experiences in product validation, team development and commercialisation. During the resource-matching session, EdUHK startup teams presented their project progress and needs, and engaged with Cyberport representatives on incubation support and business collaboration. Participants also visited representative enterprises at Cyberport to gain deeper insight into Hong Kong’s largest digital technology hub. Many entrepreneurs noted that the event not only expanded their professional networks but also provided cleared pathways for bringing their projects to market.

Looking ahead, AEDI and CPO will continue to deepen their collaboration with Cyberport, advancing experiential learning and innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives. By serving as a bridge between academia and industry, the partnership will nurture talents equipped with professional skills and innovative thinking, and provide a demonstrative example for the integration of higher education with Hong Kong’s innovation and technology ecosystem.
