EdUHK Delegation Participates in QS China Summit 2026 Explores New Pathways in Higher Education and Regional Collaboration
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) joined the QS China Summit 2026, held on 8 and 9 April at Futian Shangri-La in Shenzhen, China, in strategic partnership with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The delegation was led by President Professor John Lee Chi‑Kin.
Under the theme “Connected Cities, Collaborative Campuses”, the Summit convened over 500 higher education leaders, academics, and professionals across China and the Asia Pacific region. The event provided a platform for international dialogue, partnership building and innovation, with discussions centring on workforce transformation, the development of world-class universities in China, and the rapid advancement of higher education research.
Joining Professor Lee were Vice President (Research and Development) Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin, Assistant Vice President (Research) Professor Michelle Gu Mingyue, and Director of the Office of Institutional Data and Research Mr Jesse Xiao Sizhe. Over the two‑day programme, the delegation engaged with scholars, institutional leaders, and industry partners to explore opportunities in sustainability, talent development and education innovation.
EdUHK scholars contributed to two key panel sessions:
- Advancing Sustainability Through Regional Research Collaboration and Shared Resources
Professor John Lee Chi-Kin shared insights with the other two speakers from Tashkent University of Technology, Uzbekistan and Sun Yat-sen University, China respectively on how institutions could collaborate internationally to achieve shared sustainability goals.
- Innovative Partnerships as a Skills and Performance Accelerator
Professor Michelle Gu Mingyue highlighted case studies demonstrating how strategic partnerships, both domestic and global, can enhance institutional performance, research outputs and student success, alongside fellow panelists from the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and Chinese Mainland.
Reflecting on the Summit, Professor Lee said, “EdUHK is grateful for the opportunity to connect with leaders across the region at this important convening. Looking ahead, we will deepen partnerships with regional stakeholders to accelerate collective achievements in higher education, with a shared focus on sustainability, research excellence, and student outcomes.”
Ranked seventh globally and second in Asia in Education in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, EdUHK will build on the momentum generated at the Summit by strengthening regional and international connections, advancing partnership-led research, and contributing to the evolving higher education landscape in China and the Asia Pacific.
