EdUHK Welcomes Delegation from the University of Waterloo
Strengthen Collaboration in Occupational Therapy Education and Research
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) recently welcomed a delegation from the Faculty of Health, University of Waterloo (UW), to discuss collaboration in occupational therapy education and research.
The delegation was led by Professor Liu Lili, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Professor in the School of Public Health Sciences at UW, together with Ms Andrea Carthew, Director of Advancement in the Faculty of Health. They met with EdUHK’s senior management and academic representatives to explore strategic opportunities for partnership.
Following an introduction of EdUHK’s Occupational Therapy Education & Research Centre, the two parties engaged in detailed discussions on institutional strengths, quality assurance, and potential collaboration for EdUHK’s Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) programme, which will be launched in September this year.
Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin, Vice President (Research and Development) at EdUHK, highlighted the University’s commitment to expanding its global research network. “Leveraging our recent research achievements, the University is eager to build partnership with overseas academic institutions who share a common mission in achieving academic and research excellence for the advancement of global health and wellness”, he said.
Professor Liu commended EdUHK’s cluster-based approach, describing it as an innovative and effective model for fostering impactful interdisciplinary research.
Ms Sanne Fong Siu-lai, Associate Programme Leader for the MOT programme, introduced the new MOT programme, highlighting its curriculum design, credit allocation, distinctive features, and structured pathways for clinical training and research development.
The visit strengthened mutual understanding between the two institutions and opened new opportunities for collaboration in research initiatives and academic exchange, underscoring a shared commitment to advancing global health and rehabilitation sciences.
