Enlightening Professionals – EdUHK Mentorship Scheme 2017-18 Kick-off Ceremony

As part of its efforts to promote its students’ professional career development and personal growth, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held a ceremony today (9 December) to kick off the Enlightening Professionals – EdUHK Mentorship Scheme 2017-18 (the Scheme).

Now in its fourth year, the scheme invited over 100 experienced practitioners from different sectors of society to serve as mentors for nearly 200 students majoring in Education and other disciplines. These mentors include school principals and experienced teachers, as well as professionals from the business and nonprofit sectors, providing students with opportunities to explore and experience professional development in the field of Education and in other sectors.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, President of EdUHK, highlighted the importance of the mentorship scheme. “It provides an invaluable platform for our students to explore their talents, dreams and goals with their mentors’ unreserved support and guidance,” he said. Professor Cheung expressed the deepest gratitude to all the mentors for the time and effort they devoted to nurturing the new generation. He encouraged all the mentees to learn proactively from their experienced and enthusiastic mentors, and prepare themselves to become valuable contributors to society.

As a leading university in the Asia-Pacific region focusing on Education and complementary disciplines, EdUHK strives to uphold its educational legacy and core values, enhance learning and teaching quality, and develop students’ potential through a well-rounded approach. Having benefitted more than 800 students to date, the Scheme is among the University’s flagship programmes.
