EdUHK Thanksgiving Reception 2023

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held a thanksgiving reception today (20 November) to express its gratitude to donors and partners for their unfailing support over the past year. On the same occasion, the University also recognised the awardees of the President’s Commendation Scheme (PCS).

With the unfailing support from different sectors of the community, scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding students. In 2022/23, over 800 scholarships worth over HK$26 million were awarded.

Officiating at the reception were Dr David Wong Yau-kar, Chairman of EdUHK Council and EdUHK Foundation, and Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, EdUHK President. Over 300 friends and supporters of EdUHK, including leading figures from the business and education sectors, as well as members of the University and scholarship recipients, were in attendance.

As next year marks the 30th anniversary of EdUHK, Dr Wong said, “Thanks to all the hard work and dedication of the University community over the past decades, EdUHK has evolved from several education colleges into one of the most respected and renowned education universities in the region. We will continue to provide our students with quality education, equipping them with the knowledge and values they need in this ever-changing world.”

Professor Lee extended his heartfelt congratulations to the awardees and deepest gratitude to the donors. “Your generosity and belief in our vision not only enable us to enrich students’ learning experience, but also motivate our faculty, staff and students to continuously move forward, creating remarkable impact on the University’s development,” he said.

Teresa Chan Hoi-yan, a PCS awardee who is on the Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Science) programme, explained how the University’s exchange programme and experiential learning opportunities have broadened her horizons and given her the tools to help create a better future for children.

The ceremony was followed by a clarinet and flute performance by Chui Hei-wing and Daphnee Choy Ming-yan, students from the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative Arts and Culture and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Music) programme.

Established in December 2014, the EdUHK Foundation aims to engage various sectors of the community to advance the quality of teacher education, learning and teaching, and research at the University.
