EdUHK Hosts Campus Run and Marathon Workshop Fostering a Healthier Campus

The 15th National Games are in full swing, with public enthusiasm for sport soaring accordingly. In response to the sporting ethos championed by the Games. The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) organised a series of campus sports activities throughout November, including the ‘EdUHK Campus Run 2025’, marathon workshops, and sports-themed lectures. The initiative aimed to encourage staff and students to participate in physical activities, promoting physical and mental wellbeing, while also cheering on EdUHK’s elite student athletes competing in the Games.

 

The ‘EdUHK Campus Run 2025’, organised by the Student Affairs Office, commenced at the University’s Central Plaza, featuring a picturesque route that encircled the campus and spanned 2.4 kilometres. The university community participated enthusiastically in the event, with all 200 slots filled in no time. The event also welcomed 40 pupils from St. Peter’s Catholic Primary School and Po Leung Kuk Tin Ka Ping Millennium Primary School, underscoring EdUHK’s commitment to nurturing sports education at the primary level. Exemplifying team spirit, the participants rallied behind one another creating a lively atmosphere. Numerous refreshments stations and dedicated volunteers ensured that runners could enjoy the experience with confidence, whether they chose to run or walk. This event truly showcased the EdUHK community’s commitment to an active and healthy lifestyle.

 

To further support EdUHK runners in their preparation for the upcoming Hong Kong Marathon 2026, the Department of Health and Physical Education is set to conduct a series of marathon workshops later in November. These workshops will provide participants with expert guidance on distance running training, recovery strategies and psychological readiness, ensuring comprehensive preparation for the marathon season.

 

The inaugural seminar took place today at EdUHK, featuring Mr Kwan Kee, Chairman of the Hong Kong, China Association of Athletics Affiliates, as the guest speaker. In his insightful talk titled ‘Organisation of a Major International Sports Event in Hong Kong (HKG)’, Mr Kwan shared his extensive experience in organising large-scale international sports events. He offered attendees a deep understanding of the intricacies of preparing and executing world-class sporting competitions.

 

EdUHK remains committed to holistic student development and continues to integrate sports, health, and exercise science into its educational approach, while promoting cross-disciplinary integration and innovation. The University will continue to promote diverse wellness initiatives to cultivate healthy lifestyles and build a vibrant, active campus environment. At the ongoing 15th National Games, over 40 student athletes and alumni from the University are participating in 13 events. Moving forward, the University will continue to organise diverse sports and health activities, actively fostering healthy lifestyles and creating a vibrant campus environment.
