EdUHK Welcomes Permanent Secretary for Education Delegation
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) welcomed a delegation led by Ms May Chan Wing-shiu, Permanent Secretary for Education, to its Tai Po Campus on 9 April. The delegation was warmly received by President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, together with senior management and academic representatives.
During the visit, EdUHK’s senior management shared the University’s latest developments, endeavours to advance technology-enhanced and multi-disciplinary learning and teaching, and educational innovations.
Professor Lee introduced EdUHK’s Strategic Plan 2025–2031, themed “Education Futures”, highlighting its close alignment with the national policy direction set out in the 15th Five-Year Plan and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government’s goal of developing Hong Kong as an “International Education Hub”. He also shared the University’s recent achievements in international rankings, as well as collaboration within global networks and the Belt and Road regions.
Vice President (Academic) Professor May Cheng May-hung further elaborated on curriculum emphases, including national and national security education, patriotic education, teacher ethics education, and positive and values education.
Vice President (Research and Development) Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin outlined EdUHK’s major research strengths and projects, including strategic work in special education and support for students with special educational needs, education psychology, and the consolidation of AI-related research outputs through inter-institutional collaboration.
During the campus tour, the delegation visited one of EdUHK’s Future Classrooms at the Mong Man Wai Library, where two Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE) systems in the Extended Reality Room were demonstrated. The University also showcased the AI Innovation Hub, a one-stop platform supporting academic digital transformation, and the Agile AI Application Development System, which facilitates the creation of interactive lesson plans.
Vice President (Administration) Dr Tom Fong Wing-ho then led the delegation to the New Academic Building, which has been operating in phases since January 2026.
Ms Chan expressed her appreciation for EdUHK’s strategic priorities, noting their strong alignment with the policy directions of our country and the HKSAR. She also looked forward to strengthening collaboration on key education initiatives.
EdUHK will continue to pursue its “Education Futures” vision through research, innovation, and impact, working closely with the Government and education partners to nurture morally responsible, future-ready educators and professionals for Hong Kong and beyond.
