Dr. Mabel Shek is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Special Education and Counselling, Director of School Partnership and Field Experience, and Programme Coordinator of the Professional Development Programme on Life Planning Education and Career Guidance at the Education University of Hong Kong. She received her Doctor of Education from the University of Bristol. She also holds a Master’s degree in Education and a Master of Social Science degree in Counselling. Her research focus is in school guidance and counselling, career guidance, professional identity and culture, reflective learning and blended learning.
Mabel was awarded the President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Administrative Services in 2017 and Outstanding Performance in Teaching in 2012 by the EdUHK, and Excellence in Teaching Award in 2011 by the Faculty of Education Studies. She previously worked at a boy’s home, secondary schools, and with the Education Bureau’s Guidance Section, and has many years’ experience in teaching, training and counselling. She provides parent education at schools, and organizes workshops to enhance teachers’ personal and professional development. Her teaching areas include School Guidance and Counselling, Life Planning Education and Career Guidance.
