The Corpus-Aided Platform for Language Teachers, Developed by the Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies, Has Won the 2020 Esperanto “Access to Language Education” Award in the USA

Drs Angel Ma Qing, Jackie Lee Fung King, Wang Lixun and Rebecca Chen Hsueh Chu from the Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies (LML) have won the 2020 Esperanto “Access to Language Education” Award organised by Computer Assisted Language Instruction Consortium (CALICO), the Esperantic Studies Foundation, and Lernu.net in the USA. Every year, only one website that makes unique contribution to language education globally will be the recipient of this prestigious award. The dedicated website created by the project team at LML, the Corpus-aided Platform for Language Teachers (CAP), provides a variety of corpus-based resources to transfer the knowledge on corpus linguistics to school teachers as well as the general public facilitating language learning.

This CAP website is to train language teachers how to integrate corpus tools and resources into effective classroom teaching to facilitate their students’ language learning. On this website, readers will find systematic teacher training information based on a corpus-driven approach, guidelines for how to design corpus-based teaching materials, and useful corpus-aided materials.
