Aims
- To provide current students of the Faculty of Humanities (FHM) with hands-on practical experience in the various stages of the book publishing process, from initial planning and content creation to final publication and promotion.
- To deliver professional training through workshops led by industry experts, enabling participants to acquire essential skills in editing, design, typesetting, proofreading, and related publishing activities.
- To deepen participants' understanding of the publishing industry, enhance their awareness of career opportunities in editing and publishing, and support their professional exploration and development in this field.
Eligibility
- FHM full-time undergraduate students (Years 1–4 for BEd programmes; Years 1–3 for BA programmes);
- Able to communicate in Cantonese; and
- Strong reading and writing skills required (proficiency in bilingual Chinese-English writing is highly advantageous).
Participants are expected to:
- Attend all scheduled workshops and training sessions; and
- Commit to full and active participation throughout the entire programme duration.

Programme Details
Participants will engage in a comprehensive training experience covering key aspects of publishing, including:
Three Training Workshops (from May 2026 to February 2027, schedule TBC)
Location: The Education University of Hong Kong, Tai Po Campus
Participants will:
- Receive guidance from industry professionals on editing, proofreading, typesetting, book design, and promotion strategies;
- Participate in practical exercises such as text input, layout design, and content review; and
- Work collaboratively on a real or simulated publication project to apply learned skills.
Hands-on Publication Project (from May 2026 to February 2027)
Participants will:
- Contribute to different stages of producing a publication (e.g., content selection, editing, design, proofreading, and promotional activities); and
- Gain insight into the end-to-end workflow of book publishing in a supportive and mentored environment.
Participants who attend all required workshops and fully participate in the programme activities will receive:
- A Certificate of Completion issued by FHM; and
- 25 hours of iWork.
