Department of Chinese Language Studies
Leveraging our strength of veteran teachers and high-calibre scholars in Chinese language education, international Chinese language education and Chinese linguistics, the Department of Chinese Language Studies (CHL) undertakes teaching and research on Chinese language education and Chinese linguistics for a variety of programmes in the Faculty of Humanities and beyond.
Department of Cultural and Creative Arts
CCA is dedicated to becoming a premier arts education provider, and seeks to create an impact not only in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region, but also globally.
CCA is a vibrant and inspiring place to strive for academic and artistic excellence in Music and the Visual Arts. The Department of English Language Education (ELE) aspires to play a regionally leading role in the study and practice of English language education in Hong Kong and beyond, to nurture graduates with a global outlook and multicultural awareness, and to excel in multidisciplinary research in language learning and teaching.
Department of Literature and Cultural Studies
Firmly rooted in Hong Kong, a city with a rich history of intercultural encounters, the Department of Literature and Cultural Studies (LCS) at The Education University of Hong Kong pursues regional leadership in literary, cultural, and historical studies. Through strong commitment to the research activities of its staff, to interdisciplinary engagements, and to intercultural and international exchange, the Department aspires to become a prominent site of quality higher education and academic excellence.
Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies
The Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies (LML) aspires to play a leading role in the study of linguistics in the region, producing high quality graduates and scholars well versed in language studies in multilingual settings incorporating language technology. The focus is on the scientific study of human language and the creation of a multidisciplinary research culture in areas such as language technology, digital humanities for Cantonese, corpus linguistics, clinical linguistics, language in society, language learning and acquisition, multilingual education, and translation studies. We are also committed to the promotion of modern language learning as a response to increasing globalisation and cross-cultural communication.
