The Faculty of Humanities officially launched its ‘Digital Playhouse’ project on 13 March 2026, with a launch event held at the Tai Po Campus. This milestone marks a significant achievement in the Faculty's digital humanities initiatives, demonstrating its commitment to pioneering the seamless integration of digital technology and humanities disciplines.
Prof Leung Pui Wan Pamela, Principal Project Supervisor, delivered the opening address, articulating the vision and mission behind ‘Digital Playhouse’. She emphasised that the project embodies the Faculty's ‘Humanities Can!’ spirit, harnessing digital innovation to unlock new horizons for humanities learning.
The project team then presented the eight themed learning modules, introducing their unique features and highlights. These presentations offered attendees valuable insights into how each module bridges traditional humanities knowledge with cutting-edge digital experiences. The event also featured interactive trial sessions, allowing participants to explore the platform firsthand and discover the engaging possibilities of this immersive learning environment.
‘Digital Playhouse’ is an innovative online learning platform that brings humanities disciplines to life through emerging technologies and gamification. Key features include its diversity—integrating eight distinct themed modules—along with high interactivity, immersive learning experiences, AI integration, and game-based pedagogy. Together, these elements infuse traditional humanities education with fresh vitality and relevance.
The web version of ‘Digital Playhouse’ (https://playhouse.eduhk.hk/) has been launched on a trial basis, with a mobile application to follow in June, offering learners flexible and convenient access to enriching digital humanities experiences.
