The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), in strategic partnership with QS, hosted the EduData Summit 2025 on 4 and 5 June at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore. Themed ‘Connecting EduData: Aligning Data Science, Skills and Innovation’, the summit brought together over 400 global educators, researchers, policymakers and industry experts to explore the transformative potential of data science and artificial intelligence (AI) in education.

EdUHK was represented at the summit by President Professor John Chi-Kin Lee, Vice President (Research and Development) Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin and a delegation of 15 academic staff members, who took part in the event’s discussions, collaborations and knowledge-sharing. The University participated in three key sessions that highlighted its thought leadership in leveraging data-driven approaches to reimagine education:

  •  ‘From Data Points to Human Potential: Rethinking Educational Success in the Age of AI’, a keynote speech by President Professor Lee, emphasising redefining educational success with AI and big data while addressing ethical considerations, such as transparency, fairness, and student empowerment.
  • ‘Leading with Data: Shaping University Strategy for a Changing World’ moderated by Vice President Professor Chetwyn Chan, exploring how universities can leverage integrated data ecosystems to inform strategic decision-making across academic, operational, and financial domains.
  • ‘Data-driven Precision: Using Analytics to Strengthen Educational Assessment’, moderated by Professor Yanzi, Department Head of Curriculum and Instruction, focusing on using learning analytics to enhance student engagement, active learning, and academic success.

In addition to hosting sessions, EdUHK academic staff took the opportunity to engage with summit participants, including researchers and industry professionals, fostering exchanges and collaborations.

Reflecting on the success of the summit, Professor Lee remarked, “This summit demonstrates our commitment to leveraging data science and AI to inspire inclusive learning ecosystems and unlock the potential of every learner. By fostering collaboration and dialogue across international and sectoral boundaries, we aim to create a future where education is more innovative, accessible and impactful.”

The EduData Summit 2025 served as a global platform for intellectual exchange, offering valuable insights into how data-driven solutions can address the challenges of modern education. In collaboration with QS, EdUHK reaffirmed its leadership in advancing educational innovation and its commitment to shaping the future of learning.
