EdUHK hosts the 10th International Conference on Learning and Teaching Exploring Transformation and Innovation in Teacher Education

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) hosted the 10th International Conference on Learning and Teaching 2026 (ICLT 2026) from 21 to 23 April at its Tai Po campus, attracting over 300 education scholars and professionals. Leading scholars from China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Singapore and Brunei shared the latest trends in teacher education and engaged participants in discussion on its transformation and innovation.  

 

The theme of this year’s conference was “Transforming Teacher Education and Teaching: Embracing Change and Innovation.” It encompassed six academic areas:

•    Teacher Education and Teaching
•    AI, Metaverse and STEAM Education
•    Virtual and Blended Teaching and Learning
•    Digital Humanities
•    Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Training 
•    Other Topics Related to Learning, Teaching and Assessment

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, President of EdUHK and Honorary Conference Chair of ICLT2026, said the University was honoured to host this highly respected international conference, continuing its tradition of bringing together experts from diverse fields, including quality assurance, educational technology and artificial intelligence. He remarked, “Today, we gather as global educators, researchers, thought leaders, and forward-thinkers. Your presence underscores our shared commitment to energising the education landscape. As we respond to societal challenges with innovative methods and technologies, the importance of this mission grows even more significant.”    

 

ICLT 2026 featured 13 keynote speeches and two forums. In addition to EdUHK experts, speakers represented institutions include the University of California, Los Angeles, the University of Oxford, the University of Nottingham, the University of Sydney, the University of Melbourne, Peking University, and Chengchi University in Taiwan. They engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including professional ethics development for teachers in the new era, challenges and opportunities in teacher education, the use of generative artificial intelligence in teaching, and the evolution of the role of educators.  

 

The conference received more than 130 paper submissions, covering a wide range of professional fields including education, artificial intelligence and the humanities. The topics spanned theoretical research, practical applications and cross-disciplinary innovation.   

 

Professor May Cheng May-hung, Vice President (Academic) of EdUHK and Conference Chair of ICLT2026, highlighted the strong international response to the conference. She noted that the breadth and quality of submissions reflected the thriving development of teacher education and related research fields. She emphasised that ICLT 2026 has become a premier platform for promoting meaningful dialogue and advancing global collaboration, and expressed sincere appreciation to all who contributed to the event's success.
