EdUHK Hosts Employer Networking Luncheon to Foster Industry-Academia Collaboration

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) successfully held the Employer Networking Luncheon on 7 November, organised by its Student Affairs Office (SAO) The event brought together nearly a hundred distinguished employers, senior executives, and alumni, building talent development pipeline and bridging academia with various industries supported by the attendance of Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, President, Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin, Vice President (Research and Development) and Professor Bill Yeung Chi-ho, Dean of Students of EdUHK and some SAO leaders.

 

Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, President of EdUHK, extended a warm welcome to the guests. In his address, he expressed his sincere gratitude to the employers and alumni for their steadfast support.  Among those acknowledged were Mr Benson Luk, Legislative Council Member; Mr Victor Lam, Chairman of The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce; Mr Stephen Chua, Chairman of The Hong Kong United Youth Association; Mr Paul Mak, Chairman of TTELG Education Group; Ms Olivia To, Senior Vice President (Sustainability) for Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship of InvestHK and more. Professor Lee emphasised that this event provides students with a valuable platform to engage directly with industry leaders, facilitating our students’ understanding of industry culture, corporate spirit, and development prospects.

 

"While EdUHK is renowned for its excellence in teacher education, our blueprint for nurturing talent extends far beyond," stated Professor Lee. He highlighted the University's comprehensive curriculum revamp in response to rapid societal changes. Part of this initiative is, starting from the 2025/26 cohort, to revamp existing Bachelor of Education programmes to become 13 double degree programmes, enabling students to pursue both education and another profession.  In September 2025, master programmes in areas of digital governance, public administration and leadership as well as artificial intelligence in education have been launched. In 2026-27, EdUHK will also roll out an array of taught postgraduate programmes, such as Master of Arts in Digital Human Resource Management and Organisational Marketing, Master of Arts in Science and Robotics Education, Master of Occupational Therapy, Master of Science in Environmental, Social and Governance for Sustainable Development, etc.

 

During the event, two distinguished alumni shared their learning experiences at EdUHK and how these experiences paved their way to success, providing invaluable insights for the attending junior students. Some student representatives also introduce selected programmes’ unique features. The event  served as an effective networking platform for all attendees. Many guests appreciated on the opportunity to connect with diverse talents at EdUHK and fellow industry leaders.

 

The Employer Networking Luncheon has brought about meaningful dialogue and potential collaborations, enabling industry partners to acknowledge the unique strengths of our alumni, including attributes of resilience, pragmatism and innovative spirit.
