All participants stood in solemn respect, facing the national flag and singing the national anthem, in a dignified atmosphere.

Dr Wong said, “This year marks not only the 29th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, but also the inaugural year of the National 15th Five-Year Plan. The flag-raising ceremony serves as a vital means of fostering national belonging. Through participation, we hope the community will gain a deeper appreciation of Hong Kong’s inseparable bond with the nation, and help better integrate into and contribute to the country’s overall development.”

Professor Lee added, “The inaugural year of the National 15th Five-Year Plan coincides with the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 10th anniversary of EdUHK's retitling. With the strong support of the Country, EdUHK will continue to build on its strengths in education, research, and internationalisation. Guided by its vision of ‘Education Futures, Diverse Talents’, the University will foster talent cultivation, actively promote the ‘Study in Hong Kong’ brand, and facilitate the development of Hong Kong SAR as an international education hub, thereby contributing to the nation’s development in education, technology, and talent.”

EdUHK Student Flag-Raising Team Member Tracy Cao Yuan-yuan said, “As a member of the EdUHK student flag-raising team, I am proud to take part in the 1 July ceremony. The day marks both the Party’s anniversary and Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, carrying profound significance. Watching the national, regional and school flags rise together, I feel the shared bond and spirit of our nation. ”
