EdUHK Alumni Homecoming 2026 Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the University’s Retitling
Introduces Alumni Million Matching Scholarship Initiative to Support Student Development

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) today (21 March) hosted the EdUHK Alumni Homecoming 2026 at its Tai Po Campus, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the University’s retitling. The event drew a large number of alumni who returned with family and friends to reunite with teachers and fellow classmates. On the same occasion, the University also introduced the Alumni Million Matching Scholarship Initiative, under which alumni donations will be matched on a one‑to‑one basis to establish scholarships and bursaries supporting student learning and development.

The opening ceremony was officiated by President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin and Vice President (Administration) Dr Tom Fong Wing-ho, with other members of the senior management team also in attendance. Distinguished alumni and guests present included Mr Vincent Cheng Wing-shun and Mr Lam Chun-sing, Members of the Legislative Council; Mr Dion Chen, Principal of Ying Wah College and Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Direct Subsidy Scheme Schools Council; Mr Alvin Tse Kin-man, Managing Director of Pro Runner Hong Kong Limited; Ms Connie Ho Ka-lai, Asian Games Women's Team Épée bronze medallist; Mr Leo Au Chun-ming, Asian Games Men's Singles Squash gold medallist; and alumna and artist Ms Angie Mak, together with representatives from alumni associations and supporting organisations.

In his address, Professor Lee highlighted EdUHK’s active promotion of internationalisation over the past decade. He noted that the University delegation had recently participated in the World Governments Summit in Dubai, engaging in exchanges with global education leaders. Under the Belt and Road framework, EdUHK’s collaboration with Oman has also received recognition from the Omani Minister of Education and the Chinese Ambassador to Oman. Furthermore, Professor Lee recently led a delegation to visit the Ministry of Education of China, as well as universities including Peking University, Beijing Normal University, and Fudan University, to further deepen cross-border educational collaboration and academic exchange.

Professor Lee further emphasised the University’s ongoing enhancement of teaching and learning facilities. The two West Kowloon Study Centres, located on Austin Road and Museum Drive have officially launched, while the new academic building at the Tai Po Campus was opened in February. These facilities will provide students and staff with a high-quality learning environment, reflecting EdUHK’s dual commitment to serving the Tai Po community and actively integrating into the city’s core, aligning with its cultural and social development. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to alumni for their longstanding support, and encouraged everyone to continue working together to advance education.

The opening ceremony was co‑hosted by alumna and artist Ms Angie Mak and an EdUHK student. Performances included a drum presentation by the Percussion Band of S.R.B.C.E.P.S.A. Lu Kwong Fai Memorial School, followed by a dragon dance by students from S.R.B.C.E.P.S.A. Ho Sau Ki School, adding festive flair to the event.

The Alumni Million Matching Scholarship Initiative will run until 30 September 2026. Alumni donations will be matched one‑to‑one by the University, with funding allocated to scholarships, bursaries, overseas or Chinese Mainland exchange, and other learning development activities. The initiative encourages alumni to contribute back to their alma mater, benefitting younger generations and embodying the spirit of passing the torch. This year’s Homecoming featured the largest number of participating units to date, with more than 20 academic and administrative departments, alumni associations, and supporting organisations. The programme featured jointly organising themed booths, guided campus tours, and family-friendly activities. Alumni were able to explore the University’s latest teaching support facilities and its initiatives in nature education, environmental research, and green campus development, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

EdUHK will continue to organise diverse activities that strengthen connections with alumni and foster lifelong bonds, supporting the University’s ongoing growth and educational excellence.
