EdUHK Crowdfunds for Teaching Kit in Promotion of Students’ Life Values

You or your representatives are cordially invited to cover the Launch Ceremony of the Companions: Programme on Life Education Development to be held on 13 June (Tuesday) at the Centre for Religious and Spirituality Education (CRSE) of The Education University of Hong (EdUHK).

In collaboration with the Egive For You Charity Foundation, CRSE proposed a life education curriculum programme on the Foundation’s fundraising e-platform in 2016,  and received crowdfunding of HK$300,000 (from 87 donors). The programme, entitled ‘Companions’, emphasises that educators can walk and grow with students as their companions in life.

In view of frequent student suicides in recent years, thought leaders in various sectors have come to the consensus that fostering life education is as important as identifying and handling high-risk students. Hence, it is expected that students’ transcendent relationships with others, material/the environment and the self can be enhanced through life education, which will lead them to treasure life and develop positive values. Based on this idea, the programme has involved designing a secondary life education curriculum with 24 teaching plans and sim-activities, and editing and compiling these as a teaching kit.

Officiating at the launch ceremony will be Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, President of EdUHK; Dr Cho Kwai-chee, Founder & Chairman of the Egive For You Charity Foundation; and Professor John Lee Chi-kin, Director of CRSE. Frontline educators will also be present to discuss current student issues. After the ceremony, a teacher professional development session will be held to disseminate the programme outcomes so far and announce the second phase.  Other details are as follows:
