Appreciating and Working with Culturally Diverse Families

You or your representatives are cordially invited to cover the inaugural ceremony this Saturday (13 January) for a one-day programme titled “Appreciating and Working with Culturally Diverse Families”, organised by the Department of Education Policy and Leadership (EPL) of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK).

Funded by the Quality Education Fund, the project ‘Transition from Early Years to Primary Education: Increasing Successful Immigrant and Minority Family Engagement with Children’s Learning in Hong Kong’ was launched in 2017 to address the learning needs of Chinese immigrant and ethnic minority children through a series of workshops, seminars and learning circles.

This one-day programme is a fundamental part of the Project. It involves teacher seminars, a thematic symposium, parent workshops and children’s activities. A community engagement session will be held in the afternoon.

Dr Celeste Yuen Yuet-mui, Project Leader and Associate Head of the EPL, will share strategies and directions in fostering home-school collaboration and facilitating intercultural engagement. In addition, two NGOs, Christian Action and Hong Kong Unison, will share their expertise and experience with the support services they provide for Chinese immigrants and ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.
