The 22nd International Conference on Yue Dialects at EdUHK

You or your representatives are cordially invited to cover The 22nd International Conference on Yue Dialects, which will be held on 8 and 9 December at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). The Conference is organised by the Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies and the Centre for Research on Linguistics and Language Studies.

 

Themed Globalisation, the Conference has invited Professor Lui Tai-lok, Vice President (Research and Development) of EdUHK, to deliver the welcome speech, followed by opening remarks by Professor Zhan Bohui, Honorary Director of Ji’nan University’s Institute of Chinese Dialects.

 

At the conference, renowned scholars have been invited to deliver keynote speeches. The scholars include Professor Marjorie Chan, from Ohio State University, Professor Ching May-bo, from City University of Hong Kong, and Professor Benjamin T’sou, from City University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

 

There will also be three panels, focusing on Cantonese Literature and Culture, Digital Humanities, and Resources on Cantonese Language Teaching and Learning; an exhibition of the History of Cantonese in the EdUHK library; and a competition for the LSHK Award for Outstanding Student Papers on Cantonese Linguistics. Over 70 oral presentations will be given by participants from Asia, Europe and the US. Other details are as follows:
