Fostering Student Exchange and Understanding

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) received a delegation from Renmin University of China (RUC) and co-hosted an exchange session at the EdUHK Tai Po campus on 18 August. This visit was part of the ‘Blossom of Bauhinia’ student exchange programme, organised for RUC students to enhance their understanding of Hong Kong’s political, economic, cultural, and technological development.

In his welcome speech, EdUHK President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin said, “In April this year, EdUHK signed a memorandum of understanding with RUC. Just a few months later, we are pleased to receive the first group of RUC students and staff to visit EdUHK, marking a concrete step forward in our collaboration. We hope this exchange will enable participants to gain deeper insights into the strengths of the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ framework, as well as Hong Kong SAR’s diverse and vibrant cultural and social environment.”

During the visit, the delegation, comprising 16 students and staff, exchanged with EdUHK’s scholars. The exchange session featured Professor Xu Guandong, Chair Professor of Artificial Intelligence, Professor Gu Minkang, Director of the National Security and Legal Education Research Centre, as well as Associate Professor Dr Tan Weiqiang and Associate Professor Dr Xiao Hanyu of the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies. They shared their insights on topics including Hong Kong’s recent developments in artificial intelligence education, National Security Education, international finance, and the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ principle.
