Social Sciences and Policy Studies

Upon completion of programme, students are able to:

  • demonstrate an expert knowledge, understanding and competence in the Specialised Area and in the larger educational context;
  • generate appropriate theoretical frameworks to address, analyse and propose innovative approaches to a broad range of educational issues;
  • develop insights into research trends in the Specialised Area and demonstrate readiness to contribute to the professional literature in that field; 
  • effectively communicate concepts and theories within the Specialised Area to an audience of peers both locally and internationally;
  • analyse educational policies, processes or practices from different perspectives critically; and 
  • demonstrate a thorough understanding of ethical practices within the Specialised Area.

Admission Requirements

Basic Requirements

  1. must hold a Master's degree in a discipline within education or a cognate field relevant to their chosen Specialised Area;
  2. with four years or more of work experience are preferred.

Interview will only be arranged for those who pass the preliminary selection.

English Language Requirements (For English Class Only)

Applicants are expected to demonstrate a high standard of competence in spoken and written English. Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution in a non-English speaking system should normally fulfil one of the following minimum English proficiency requirements:

  • Overall score of IELTS 6.5# with no subtest lower than 6.0; or
  • A TOEFL# score of 80 (internet-based test); or
  • Other equivalent qualifications.*


#  The results of IELTS/TOEFL provided should be within two years (i.e., for the 2024/25 intake, the IELTS/TOEFL test must be obtained on or after 1 Jan 2022); and should be “taken in test centres” (i.e., tests taken online such as IELTS indicator/IELTS Online and TOEFL Home Editions are NOT accepted).

* The College English Test (CET) is not accepted as an equivalent qualification.

Programme Description

The Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies (SSPS) has recently discovered that some organisations claim to guarantee student admission to Master of Arts in Personal Finance Education (MA(PFE)). In response to this, the Department would like to make the following official statement:

1. The MA(PFE) has never authorised any third party to be involved in its application and admission process. 
2. All applicants must submit their application via the University’s online system.
3. Shortlisted applicants will undergo the rigorous procedure of academic document verification and admission interview. There is no guarantee of admission as it solely depends on the applicant’s qualification and performance.

Please be careful of any claims of “guaranteeing enrollment”, “proxy recruitment” from any organisations. We encourage applicants to submit their applications directly to the University’s online system (https://www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/online/).

 

PROGRAMME FEATURES

  • It is the first Master of Arts programme in personal financial education in Hong Kong, focusing on both theoretical financial knowledge and workplace application skills to improve participants’ competitiveness in the market.
  • Participants will be given opportunities to gain practical and first-hand experience in transferring financial knowledge to individuals and the tools to enable them to be professional financial educators, equipping the skills to operate effectively in the three areas of education, business, and society.
  • The demand for financial talents in mainland China and Hong Kong is growing rapidly. Graduates have a wide range of employment prospects, including banking and financial institutions, government agencies, educational institutions, and mass media.
  • All subjects are taught in English, in order to strengthen participants’ English proficiency and competitiveness in the international market.

 

The Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (IFPHK) confirms that Master of Arts in Personal Finance Education [MA(PFE)] graduates are eligible to apply for “Fast-track to Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Certification” - List C candidacy. Under the fast-track arrangement, the MA(PFE) graduates will be exempted from taking the CFP certification education program (courses 1 to 3) and the CFP certification examination (foundation level).

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Applicants should normally hold a recognised Bachelor’s degree or other equivalent qualifications.
  2. Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution in a non-English speaking system should normally fulfill one of the following minimum English proficiency requirements:

- Students who would pursue credential recognition should be aware that short stays in Hong Kong during the study period may not fulfil the CSCSE residential requirements, leading to possible uncertainty and risks to their credential recognition.
 
- Students are seriously advised to consider the above when making personal plans, such as accommodation and travel plans from Hong Kong, etc. and make necessary arrangements where appropriate. 
 
It is the responsibility of the students to be familiar with and comply with the University regulations and guidelines governing the Taught Postgraduate Programmes. PROGRAMME AIMS

The MA(PFE)’s objectives are to:

  1. equip participants with professional knowledge in finance and necessary skill sets for investment analysis;
  2. enable participants to formulate and implement comprehensive personal finance education for individuals with different financial backgrounds and needs in a society of prolific lifestyles;
  3. focus on necessary financial knowledge in personal finance and the application of knowledge and skills required for effective financial decision-making, financial planning and hence training, education, and knowledge transfer; and
  4. equip participants to meet their career goals in either the financial services sector or financial-related educational/training sector.

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants should be able to:

  1. demonstrate solid understanding and a broad spectrum of knowledge and concepts in finance and financial management (PILO1); 
  2. critically evaluate the trend and development of financial and investment markets in a global perspective (PILO2);
  3. integrate financial knowledge in solving personal financial problems and ethical decision making (PILO3);
  4. possess high professionalism, creativity and competencies as a financial literacy educator (PILO4); and
  5. transfer and apply research methods and financial knowledge in the context of professional work. (PILO5).

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The programme comprises 24 credit points (cps). Participants normally take one year (full-time mode) or two years (part-time mode) to complete the programme. They need to attend classes (in the same or different semester(s)) which may be scheduled on weekday daytime/evenings, weekends and/or during long holidays at the Tai Po Campus / Tseung Kwan O Study Centre / North Point Study Centre / Kowloon Tong Satellite Study Centre and/or other locations as decided by the University.

There are two options for students to complete the 24 credit points for graduation:

Veteran advised MA(PFE) students on career development in the finance sector

Master of Arts in Personal Finance Education [MA(PFE)] Programme invited Mr Xie Long, an experienced enterprise trainer, to deliver a financial career advising session for our students.


Dr TAN Weiqiang, Programme Leader of MA(PFE), presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Mr Xie.

Mr Xie Long is a commercial bank veteran with over 20 years of experience in financial management and enterprise training. His expertise covers career planning in finance, credit risk control for banking, banking marketing, team management, banking compliance management, and positive leadership. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Mr Xie has served in the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Ping An Bank, Standard Chartered Bank Group, and ZAC. During his tenure as Channel Director and Executive Director at ZAC, Mr Xie was also responsible for in-house training for the business teams and the cadre members.


Mr Xie shared the career advice with our students.

This sharing session framed an overview of the banking and other financial fields for MA(PFE) students and greatly inspired them in their career development in finance. Mr Xie shared many practical and tailored suggestions with our students on their career development in finance, including commercial banking, internet finance, and corporate finance. He also shared his rich experience in banking management with MA(PFE) students.

 


Specialist in AI and Cybersecurity shared his insight on FinTech Regulations

On 7 November 2023, the Master of Arts in Personal Finance Education [MA(PFE)] Programme invited Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia (IFTA) to share the prospects of FinTech industry in Hong Kong, and invited Dr Arvin Tang, Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), to share the latest breakthrough in the regulatory technology within the FinTech industry.



Dr TAN Weiqiang, Programme Leader of MA(PFE), presented the certificates of appreciation to Dr Arvin TANG, (ASTRI) and Ms Yolanda CHAU (IFTA).

At the beginning, Ms Yolanda Chau from Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia (IFTA) described an overview on the FinTech trends in Hong Kong, including the talent demands and career advising for the prospective FinTech practitioners. She also introduced IFTA professional designations - Certified Financial Technologist (CFT). CFT is a globally recognised certification programme for FinTech practitioners.


Ms Yolanda CHAU shared the FinTech trends in Hong Kong.

Later, Dr Arvin Tang, the Director of Multimedia Systems and Analytics under the technical division of the Trust and AI Technologies division at Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), shared the latest regulatory technology in FinTech with our students. Dr Tang discussed the regulatory challenges of data protection in FinTech and introduced ASTRI solution to it, namely, a self-developed federated learning platform developed by ASTRI. This federated learning platform motivates the machine learning training and alternative data to facilitate the regulatory improvement, which is also applied in establishing a new ecosystem for the bank industries. Dr Tang also illustrated some empirical evidence to enhance our students’ cybersecurity literacy.

Seminar on Digital Transformation in Asset Management Industry

On 7 November 2023, a seminar themed on Digital Transformation in the Asset Management Industry was successfully held at The Education University of Hong Kong, jointly organised by the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology (MIT) and the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies (SSPS).


Professor YU Leung Ho Philip (right standing), Head of Department of MIT, and Dr HU Zhiyong Fox (left standing), Acting Head of Department of SSPS presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Dr Eddie PONG (middle standing) as a gratitude.


Professor LI Wai Keung (first from right hand side), Dean of FLASS, also attended the seminar.

Dr Eddie Pong, the speaker of the seminar, is an expertise in quantitative investment analytics and software development. He is the founder of Rivermap Quantitative Research, a FinTech company in Hong Kong.

Dr Pong is experienced in investment management and quantitative analysis. He started his career in London where he worked as an investment manager at Amundi Asset Management. He then moved to ING Investment Management to work in the engineered investment strategies group.  Eddie was Head of Asia Pacific Research at FTSE Russell where he oversaw the research and analytics function in the Asia Pacific region.

At the seminar, Dr Pong discussed the latest trends in the asset management industry, focusing on the increasing importance of technologies like machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and cloud computing. Additionally, he explored the growing emphasis on new investment areas such as megatrends and the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors.

Dr Pong advised on students’ professional development in asset management field, such as the skills necessary for professionals to succeed, the opportunities and challenges in wealth and asset management.

 

Seminar: Professor Chor-yiu SIN on Re-balancing hedge position with statistics of hedge ratios

On October 6 (Friday), 2023, Professor Chor-yiu SIN delivered a seminar on “Re-balancing hedge position with statistics of hedge ratios: concepts and applications”. During the seminar, Professor SIN presented his latest findings on hedge efficiency improvement with econometric models to the community of EdUHK.

Professor SIN has been a Professor of the Department of Economics, College of Technology Management of National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Taiwan, China since 2014. He devotes to excellence in research on time series econometrics and financial econometrics. His research findings have been published in many international referee journals.

This seminar was jointly organised by the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology (MIT) and the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies (SSPS), supported by Master of Arts in Personal Finance Education Programme [MA(PFE)]. Seminar: Wealth Management Development in GBA and CFP Certification

On October 4, 2023, MA(PFE) Programme invited Mr Edwin Cheung, Vice Chairman for Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (IFPHK) to deliver a seminar on wealth management in the Greater Bay Area.

During the seminar, Edwin introduced the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Certification and the career opportunities for CFP holders to the EdUHK students. 

Students graduated from MA(PFE) Programme will be exempted from taking three educational courses and one foundational examination for CFP Certification under the fast-track certification offered by IFPHK.

Seminar on ESG Investment, Green Finance and the introductory session for Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA)

On September 27, 2023, Mr Ericson Lee conducted a sharing session for the students from Master of Arts in Personal Finance Education [MA(PFE)) Programme and other majors at EdUHK.

Mr Ericson Lee is currently a dedicated member of the Green Finance Engagement at Friends of the Earth (Hong Kong), focusing on ESG education and green finance and policy engagement. He is a professional with knowledge on ESG analysis, sustainable investment strategies, ESG integration and valuation processes. Mr Ericson Lee is also a holder of Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA) accreditation.

The sharing session was themed in “The ESG Imperative: Why is it essential and how does it impact all of us?”. During the seminar, Mr Ericson Lee pictured the trends in the fields of ESG investment and sustainable finance. Moreover, He also explored the career opportunities within the ESG industry and shared the accreditation path towards Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA) with students present.

INTRODUCTION

The Master of Social Sciences in Global and Regional Studies is the first Master programme that adopts multi-dimensional and multidisciplinary perspectives on studying and understanding Hong Kong and the rise of a sustainable and competitive global city-region in the Pearl River Delta region. The programme provides students with a macroscopic perspective in analysing the historical transformation of global order through the changing status of Hong Kong from British to Chinese sovereign powers, and more recently, the processes and challenges in the socio-economic transformation in the development of the Greater Bay Area as a world-class megalopolis. Having equipped with global and historical perspectives, this programme encourages students to microscopically examine social, cultural, political and economic aspects of the region’s development. Students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills from different fields within a robust pedagogical framework and are well-positioned to pursue diverse careers in the government, mass media, educational institutions, non-governmental organisations, as well as private enterprises. Graduates of this programme will also be able to pursue further studies in a variety of disciplines, ranging from interdisciplinary studies to disciplinary-specific research degrees.

PROGRAMME AIMS 

On successful completion of the programme, students will be able to demonstrate the following abilities: 

  1. Master the up-to-date knowledge of the complexity and dynamism in regional development in the Greater Bay Area and the role of Hong Kong in the region from social, economic, spatial, and governance perspectives; 
  2. Acquire multiple perspectives and innovative skills in studying different regional development strategies and pathways in the national and global contexts; 
  3. Apply social science concepts, theories and methodologies empirically to case studies and real-life examples in relation to the developmental issues of the Greater Bay Area by creatively imagining future possibilities as well as solutions; and 
  4. Uphold ethical responsibility and sensitivity to the diversity of values in global and regional studies. 

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE 

The programme comprises 24 credit points (cps). Students normally take one to two years to complete the programme. They need to attend classes which may be held in the evening/daytime on weekdays or weekends at the Tai Po Campus or Tseung Kwan O Study Centre and/or satellite study center near Kowloon Tong as decided by the University.

The programme consists of 8 core courses and 2 elective courses. Students are required to complete 24 credit points for graduation.

2. MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION 

The medium of instruction is English. 

TUITION FEE 

This programme is offered on a self-funded basis. The tuition fee for the whole programme is HK$120,000, which is provisional and subject to adjustment. Tuition fees paid are normally not refundable or transferrable. Extension fees will be charged to students who have to extend their studies beyond the normal duration. (For September 2022 Entry) 

Entrance Scholarships are available and awarded on the basis of academic merits with consideration of non-academic achievement. 

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Applicants should normally hold recognized Bachelor's degrees or equivalent. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview. 
  2. Applicants whose entrance qualifications are obtained from institutions in a non-English speaking system should normally meet the EdUHK’s post-graduate admission language requirement: 
    • IELTS 6.0 or above; or 
    • a TOEFL score of 80 (internet-based test); or 
    • Grade C or above in GCSE / GCE OL English; or 
    • Band 6 in the Chinese Mainland’s College English Test (CET) (a total score of 430 or above and the test result should be valid within two years); or 
    • Other equivalent qualifications.

疫情期間的求學之路

李儀萍 (2021 畢業生)

突如其來的疫情，絆住了我們20級進入學校參與課堂面授的腳步。我們經歷了快一年的網課學習。儘管是線上上課，但我們依然收穫豐富。

網課教學模式一直被質疑其學習品質是否能被保證。然而，網課學習效果如何，是要看學生個人的學習意願與學習動力。雖然是網課，但是同學們依然通過線上交流互相幫助並且共同努力完成了小組作業。同學間的友好配合非常重要，通過合作收穫的友誼更加珍貴!

除了小組作業，個人的學術進階也很關鍵。老師們都非常尊重學生的意願，並且鼓勵學生去發掘自己研究興趣。老師們從來不會強制命題，都是以尊重學生興趣為基礎，然後循循善誘，幫助學生完成一篇優秀論文。並且老師們都特別願意在課後留時間給我們進行輔導。只要有問題找老師，老師都不會拒絕，從來沒出現過找不到老師的情況。

在這一年的學習中，我以自己本科金融學建模知識為基礎，在老師的引導下，不斷拓展相關的學習與研究。我先後用python完成了情感分析，用Nvivo完成了內容分析、文本分析、比較分析。在自己的research project中運用多元回歸模型和主成分分析模型結合SPSS和EViews的輔助得出自己的結論，通過操作软件得出模型是非常有成就感的事情。整個過程都伴隨著大量的文獻閱讀和文字輸出，是一個關關難過、關關過的過程。 

在老師的幫助与教导下，我很幸運的獲得了我們學校RA的職位，并通過RA工作的經驗積累，之後又再次換工作到研究智庫。我非常感恩全球香港研究專業選擇了我，因为我們program是很適合在香港找工作的專業。我也很感恩我遇到的老師願意給我成長與發展的空間，我才能因此獲得人生發展的機會。“好的老師可以改變學生的一生“，至少我在我的老師的幫助與引導下，逐步走向正軌，走到了自己喜歡的事業道路上。

非常感恩這一年的學習經歷！感恩我遇到的老師！同時我也相信，天道酬勤，不輟努力與真誠做事必能迎來屬於自己的機會。

學習和研究都需要追尋自己內心的感受。核心問題上，不許彎腰，彎一次腰，一輩子都直不起來。過程很重要，結果不重要。努力永遠是自己的，財富不是，所以不要輕易被流行的東西帶走。不確定性也是正常的，不要焦慮成病。現在強調快的東西，但慢工也很重要。技的東西學的太多，別忘了術，還有學宏觀的趨勢，微觀的體驗。尊重內心的體驗，尊重自己的認知，尊重常識，方法會融入血液。

留學感想     

鄒想想 (2020 畢業生)

來港念書是一念之間，所獲所得所改變的人生軌迹却仿若一眼萬年。

非常幸運，碩士一年畢業後，自己能成功留港在北區一所Top 5的學校當一名自我感覺很幸福的小學英文老師。回想一年前，很幸運自己能入讀教大，雖坦誠而言，教大在QS綜合排名上不若其他幾所高校，但她非常人性化、讓人一踏入就忍不住流連的圖書館，她免費、多樣、齊全“只要人來了就好”的運動設施，她多文化背景的各國外教語言支持，她系統貼心又接地氣的職業規劃支持……都讓我覺得自己這一年，很值，很“回本”。

更幸運自己入讀了全球香港研究專業。雖然這個專業跟我現在所從事的教育行業幷未有直接干係，却直接决定了我未來到底尋哪座城市，過好餘生。

全球香港研究專業，聽起來似有些寬泛，甚至光聽名字幷不能直接猜出到底學什麽，却用實實在在的乾貨幫我更全面地認識了香港，讓我能在2019年幷不平靜、衆說紛紜的大環境中依然對香港的未來對自己的未來懷抱積極的心態，讓我更堅定地選擇留港工作、生活。除了知識上的得獲，更讓我感動幷震撼的是這個專業的授課老師。他們極强的責任心和“護犢”之心，很有感染力的課堂激情，很包容、開明、尊重的學術態度和人生態度，很耐心的“聆聽“，很積極的回應，及go find your curiosity的鼓勵和引導……都在向我role model幷鼓舞著我：我要成爲且也可以成爲他們這樣的老師，然後，我的學生也會同我這般覺得溫暖幸運。因爲他們，我燃起了對教育的熱忱，决心留港，决心從事教育。

如果從結果倒推，問我，既然最後選擇做了老師，會不會後悔當初沒選作爲教大强項的教育類專業。我會毫不猶豫搖頭，不會後悔。

當初不選擇這個專業的話，我可能會被“墻裏墻外“紛紛擾擾真假難辨的“聲音”“嚇跑”，錯過這個依然充滿活力的城市；我可能會遇不到那些身體力行給我知識和價值觀啓蒙的老師們，錯過我熱愛的教育行業；我可能不知道原來從社會科學的角度看外面再看社會裏的自己會這般不一樣，可能不知道社會科學與教育會碰撞出我從未思考過的火花……我的人生軌迹會完全不一樣。

不後悔，且感恩。

感恩遇見教大，感恩遇見這個專業，感恩遇見這個專業的授課老師們，短短一年，受益良多。

心懷感恩，幷希望能將自己這一年有幸得之的收穫，傳遞給正在閱讀的你。

深港大齡跨境生求學記

歷經三個月的艱苦備考拿到了雅思6分，通過了學校的層層選拔和面試，2018.5.31收到香港教育大學的研究生Offer，功夫不負有心人，一切塵埃落定！

作為香港八大之一，教育專業列全球第9，亞洲第2，教大實力不容小覷。養了兩個也算全面發展的學霸娃，我在教育方面還算有點經驗和感悟，很想系統地再學習深造一下。二娃在香港讀書，我一直很關心香港，也想深入地去瞭解香港並融入香港。再加上開公司做企業的經歷，必須關注國際局勢和經濟前景，所以“全球化和香港研究”這個專業很適合我。

開學前連續三天的學前Workshop，安排的周到又貼心。重返校園再進教室當學生的感覺，真的很棒！9.3正式開學，專業和課程都是自己感興趣的，所以學得興趣盎然。全班35人，大部分90後，還有不少應屆畢業生，不僅英語好，思維清晰，知識面也廣，我這樣的超齡學生壓力好大，只能更努力！

學到用時方恨少，最大的挑戰來自於全英文授課，之前從沒體驗過啊！因此每一次上課絕不敢怠慢，打起十二分精神基本能聽懂一大半，回去再回味復習一下也能跟上節奏。但碰到個別導師英語講太快，直接傻眼。英語不夠好，就得創造和抓住機會練習，學語言最重要的就是環境。於是在同學群裏宣導大家儘量用英語交流，朋友圈都發中英文雙語，課堂上也積極舉手回答問題、踴躍參與討論，不管說的對不對，敢說就行。再加上啃了許多英文文獻，寫了無數篇Response Paper，一年下來不管是英語閱讀，還是聽力口語都進步了一些，頗感欣慰。

最難的是Presentation和Research Paper，用中文來做都是很大挑戰，況英語乎！硬著頭皮也要上啊，經過充分準備和學習演練，還有小組小夥伴們的協作配合，總算順利又圓滿完成了每一次任務。為我們自己鼓掌喝彩！連英語演講都沒問題，相信大家以後在任何場合都落落大方不會怯場！

上學期寫過一篇“說說我們的教授和Tutor”，詳細介紹了德高望重的副校長趙教授，認真負責的Leader Dr Ho，謙謙君子溫潤如玉的王老師，帥氣幹練的Vic Li，細心細緻隨時隨地陪伴和幫助我們的Tutor正非。下學期還認識了非常用心、非常可愛的Eric，平易近人的Dennis，體貼溫和的Clara，時尚美麗的黎明老師。你們用專業的知識、認真的態度、清晰的講授、和親身帶領我們實地參觀考察，不僅為我們打開了知識的大門，還讓我們看到這個世界的多樣性、可能性，讓我們的眼界和視野更廣闊，衷心感謝你們！

教授們還教導我們不管做什麼、說什麼都要講究實證，用數據、事實來證明你的觀點，而不是信口開河、主觀臆斷。學會批判性思維，客觀公正地看待世間萬物。這些理論和方法，讓人一生受益！

《敬安再會一九九七》學生新書分享會

  2. 教大ASLLC：免費（需綫上報名）多樣且好玩有用的語言課程，疫情下有提供綫上課程，可以提高英文口語，可以尋求語言支援（各種考試前的培訓），也可以感受不同國家的文化，還可以認識其他專業的朋友~墻裂推薦~
  3. 教大Career develop team提供的各種career talk, 如面試求職的各種培訓（求職網站介紹，如何寫簡歷，面試技巧，簡歷照片拍攝等等），老師們非常耐心細心，而且career talk種類非常多，少部分無用，大部分很受用，一定要關注學生郵箱收到的各種推送，有時間墻裂推薦參加看看~~

（二）    香港教師求職篇

我個人的教師求職攻略，僅供參考，不打算留港當老師的童鞋可飛過~              

1. 提前一年的準備
如若想在香港當老師，要麽(1)來港讀一年制的PGDE或者5年制的Bachelor of Education, 要麽(2)本科爲師範類專業且受過師訓，在港讀碩士，來港後立即去HKCAAVQ做學歷認證(該認證需要1-2個月，儘早準備，我是去年10月份拿到了認證)。如是教英文科，來港後務必立即去申請英文基準試的豁免(該豁免耗時約4個月，儘早申請，我是去年9月份申請，次年2月份拿到了豁免)。這兩項是門檻，建議提早規劃，如若等畢業時再做認證，找工作會非常非常艱難，甚至簡歷環節即被刷掉。

2. 揾工過程
不像內地一封簡歷，一個郵件，群發即可。香港的學校大多比較傳統，需要寫信買郵票郵寄，這個是沒辦法的，入鄉隨俗，校長偏愛紙質文檔~
求職必備文檔：有針對性的求職信，簡歷和教育理想。不要想著偷懶，就發一封簡歷，會被認爲沒有誠意，直接刷掉的，如有教授的推薦信，一定要附上，推薦信很重要很重要很重要~~建議簡歷有一些針對性的修改，如招聘廣告上要求老師懂剪輯，你一定要把你擅長拍攝剪輯的優點置前，甚至可以放一個二維碼，內含你擅長該技能的實證。
香港教師招聘平臺：Mingpaojump，香港教協，這兩個够你用了~大部分崗位都會在這上面發布~~
强烈建議專門建立一個excel管理表，統籌記錄投遞記錄和狀態，第一個sheet是總表，設置投遞日期、招聘廣告發布日期、學校名稱、地點、招聘崗位、薪金、廣告發布平臺、投遞狀態等字段，然後把招聘廣告複製粘貼到後面的sheet，務必要把廣告內容保存下來，否則後續你想查看原網頁的時候，可能用人單位已撤下，鏈接失效。用一個excel表管理，會更高效。
今年我總共投了87封簡歷，收到了8所中小學的面試通知，最終拿到了3個offer。87封幷不算太多，身邊也有朋友投了140封➕，建議做好心理準備，多投是王道，投了之後沒有回應是常態，然後繼續加油
關于面試，香港學校對哪個崗位都非常重視，哪怕是一個教學助理的崗位都會有3輪面試：科組長—課程主任—校長—(校監)，面試問題一般涉及專業方面(給教材讓你說課等)、教學方面(課堂管理技巧等)、個人綜合素養方面(你的優劣勢個人規劃性格等)。
面經分享：(1)事前列好一些常見問題，將答案做成視覺佳的mindmap，打印4份，如面試時真的有問到，拿出來，給到面試官，不是爲了讓你念答案，而是給面試官一種你有備而來很用心的感覺，同時視覺及邏輯化的紙質呈現方式，會讓你的現場回答更加分; (2)面試後如覺察到有些問題回答得幷不系統不完整不如人意，回到家後務必立馬用mindmap等視覺化的方式重新寫一份答案，然後郵件/郵寄/WhatsApp發給面試方，會增加錄用概率，即使不錄用，它日有空缺之時，也會想到你，不要放過任何一絲機會~~
我面試過得學校的面試問題清單請參見附錄一。
另，我之前覺得學習成績對面試和錄用影響沒有太大，但實踐中發現，學習成績在是否給你面試機會這個環節影響不大，但在終面PK掉你的對手，影響還是很大的o(∩_∩)o

3. 薪酬相關
如是TA崗位，可直接前往學校官網，查看該校的政府津貼使用計劃書和周年計劃書，裏面會很清楚寫明該校TA的薪酬多少，所以當面試方問你預計薪酬時，你其實可以做到心中有數，根據我個人經驗（有待其他人考證），小學TA 10000-15000/月，一萬二是常態，中學11000-15000/月，一萬三四是常態，TA周六大概率需要上班/輪休，沒有寒暑假，每年簽合同。
如是教師崗位，可參考附錄二的薪級表。該表是正式編制老師的工資，一般來說在港只念一年碩士沒有教學經驗的畢業後直接當上編制老師可能性幾乎爲零，但是可以先從合約老師開始做，合約老師的工資大概是同級編制老師的工資乘以0.8~0.9，但還是會比TA高很多~~剛畢業的薪點一般是17點(35K)，每年自動漲一個薪點~有寒暑假~ 

4. 教學工作量
香港教師是非常辛苦的，一周有25-27節課，除此之外還有非常多的paperwork和行政工作，還要帶課外活動，若不是真的熱愛，做得約莫會很苦痛~~這邊的教學理念是積極教育，正向教育，傳統的那套語法操練成績第一，部分學校也存在，但整體是全人教育，老師是打心底愛孩子，打心底想盡一切辦法建立各種平臺以讓孩子發現自己的潜能和優勢(而不是拼命補短板改缺點)~~工作量雖然大，但是一般工作氛圍會很有愛，很包容，大部分人都是抱著如何幫你而不是judge you 挑你刺兒彰顯我比你厲害的心態~~
還有很多未盡事宜，如學校的分類，不盡錄，百度一下你就知道，網上也會有很多帖子攻略~~
最後的最後，有一個成功的人同你分享經驗，你會少走很多彎路，節約很多時間精力，儘量用謙卑的心多向身邊的人請教^_^

（三）    香港生活及非教育行業求職篇

  1. 性價比比較高的手機電話卡：港漂圈提供的年套餐，新生第一年500港幣/年，老生就變成了700港幣/年了，但還是比移動、寬頻等運營商便宜很很多~上網打電話都够用~具體如何辦，請參見港漂圈（微信公衆號）。
  2. 租房：寄托天下（網站名稱），港漂圈（微信公衆號）
  3. 非教育行業求職、香港生活、畢業前後各種簽證攻略：簡職HK（微信公衆號），港漂圈（微信公衆號），小U在香港（微信公衆號），前兩個我個人覺得做得比較好，信息很豐富也很够用。
  4. 香港大部分行業的薪酬都是比較透明的，教大的Edjob plus上有各行業的薪酬調查表可供參考，也可以自行穀歌搜索，HKSAR統計局網站上也有很多薪酬相關的數據，可自行挖掘~
（四）    粵語篇

我起步還是晚了，如果决心留港，建議提前學習提前學習提前學習，根據我個人的經驗，3-6個月可以聽得懂大部分，有堅持聽說的話，不到一年可以比較流利地用粵語溝通~

附錄一 面試問題清單

我面試的主要是TA和英文老師的職位（中學和小學），以下是我面試過得部分學校的面試問題，原則是每間學校都不一樣，每年都會不一樣。爲保證公平性，不透露學校的名字，僅供參考。教大的Career develop team的面試培訓也會給出一個清單，那上面的問題也可以好好準備一下，有備無患~面試一般有2-3甚至4輪，一般都會有英文、普通話和廣東話三種語言。

A中學面試

第一輪：panel head + 2個英文老師，全英文面試

Specialised Area: Asian and Policy Studies

The specialised area of Asian and Policy Studies will introduce students the ways of critically analysing policy questions within a broad social, economic and political context, considering contemporary developments in both public and social policy developments in institutional, local, national and global contexts. 

Upon completion of programme, students are able to:

  • demonstrate an expert knowledge, understanding and competence in the Specialised Area and in the larger educational context;
  • generate appropriate theoretical frameworks to address, analyse and propose innovative approaches to a broad range of educational issues;
  • develop insights into research trends in the Specialised Area and demonstrate readiness to contribute to the professional literature in that field; 
  • effectively communicate concepts and theories within the Specialised Area to an audience of peers both locally and internationally;
  • analyse educational policies, processes or practices from different perspectives critically; and 
  • demonstrate a thorough understanding of ethical practices within the Specialised Area.

Course Synopsis

Specialised Courses

This course equips students with key theoretical and analytical abilities essential for understanding public policy and governance. It will look into major theories and techniques in political science, public administration, sociology, and economics and synthesize into a coherent set of knowledge for students who are new to the discipline. The course will also expose students to a variety of analytical skills and techniques so that students could apply these tools in analyzing case studies across the globe.

Course Outline

The course aims to provide concepts, insights and practical skills for leading and managing successfully in tertiary sector institutions. It offers expert perspectives on higher education, vocational education, training systems, policy settings, institutional strategies and tertiary sector work cultures in a national and international context. The course will focus on higher education topography in Asia. Drawing on case studies from higher education institutions from Asia, the course attempts to examine how higher education institutions meet with political, social and economic needs and how higher education institutions in Asia is connecting with the Global education topography.

Elective Courses

This course aims to ensure that students are familiar with the nature of organisations, their structures, processes and working environments, and particularly the specific characteristics of public and private organisations particularly in the global context. Upon the completion of this course, students will be able to understand some of the key concepts and theories in organization behavior and analyze the implications of organizational behavior for public and private sector management and profit/non-profit organisations (apart from NGOs, non-profit organisations will include education).

Course Outline

The course introduces the concepts and principles that underpin strategic communication in organisations by focusing in three main areas – understanding human communication, understanding contemporary communication environments and new media, and critical analysis of the applicability and concept of strategic communication. The course intends to equip students with necessary communication skills to tackle communication issues while conducting policy advocacy and when implementing and formulating policies and how policies could be best communicated to different stakeholders. This course will also tackle specifically on strategically communicating with stakeholders and handle crisis in the higher education sector.

General Requirements

Applicants should normally hold a Master’s degree in the discipline of education or a cognate field to their chosen Specialised Area, plus four years’ professional experience. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview.

English Language Requirements  
Applicants are expected to demonstrate a high standard of competence in spoken and written English. Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution in a non-English speaking system should normally fulfil one of the following minimum English proficiency requirements:

  • Overall score of IELTS 6.5 with no subtest lower than 6.0; or
  • A TOEFL score of 80 (internet-based test); or
  • Other equivalent qualifications.*

* The College English Test (CET) is not accepted as an equivalent qualification.

SOCIAL SCIENCES IN EDUCATION

The specialized area of Social Sciences in Education is designed for educators of all kinds and others who wish to pursue in-depth study and research into the social, political, and geographical contexts of schools and students at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, and who wish to enable their students to better understand these contexts. Ed.D. candidates will be supervised by academics in the Department of Social Sciences from the disciplines of sociology, political science, geography, and social sciences education with research and teaching expertise in the broad social issues of family, citizenship, minorities, climate change, religion, ethics, security, power, and education. Foundational coursework is offered in the areas of sociology of education (including issues of inequality, multiculturalism, and educational participation and attainment), gender and education (including issues related to the complexity of gender in structuring school culture, practices, organization and the interplay among gender, class, ethnicity, and sexuality), the politics of education (including issues in the politics of pedagogy and schools, schools as agents of political socialization, and student activism), geographies of education (including geography and education, environmental literacy, learning through travelling, and spatial patterns of education and schooling), and social science education in schools (including current issues in the design and implementation of social science curriculum and pedagogies in primary and secondary schools).

Courses in General Studies provide participants with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes for the teaching of the subject in an inquiry-based primary school context, with a strong emphasis on the child-centred and interdisciplinary approach.
