Embracing the Spirit of the Curriculum: Primary Humanities Professional Exchange Conference

On 24 June 2026, the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies (SSPS) of The Education University of Hong Kong, in collaboration with the Education Bureau (EDB) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, successfully hosted the Primary Humanities Professional Exchange Conference. The conference took place at the University’s West Kowloon Study Centre (Austin Road) at the Xiqu Centre, bringing together educators, researchers, and practitioners to share insights on the teaching and learning of Primary Humanities.

To enrich students' exposure to ancient Chinese history and cultural intercation, material culture and art appreciation, Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Sociology and Community Studies and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Primary Humanities) Programme organized a visit to the exhibition "The Majestic Han: A Golden Age of Vigour and Cultural Integration " at the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Center on 7 July 2026.
A Visit to Tai O to Learn about the Tai O Dragon Boat Water Parade, National Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Local Community

Every year during the Dragon Boat Festival, the three fishermen’s associations in Tai O hold the traditional Dragon Boat Water Parade. The local community invites deity statues from four temples in Tai O onto dragon boats, which then parade through the water channels. In 2011, the Tai O Dragon Boat Water Parade was inscribed on China’s national list of intangible cultural heritage. It has also been incorporated into the Primary Humanities curriculum in Hong Kong.
SSC 2358 Overseas Field-based Learning: Exploring Cultural Heritage and Global Citizenship: 11-Day, 10-Night Study Tour to the United Kingdom – funded by Common Core Curricula Committee (CCCC)

Students enrolled in SSC 2358 joined an 11-day, 10-night overseas study tour that aimed to help them understand cultural heritage and develop a strong sense of global citizenship through hands-on learning.

The Hong Kong Inheritage Foundation President Yip Kwong Kan Scholarship was established to provide recognition of full-time Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Personal Finance programme students’ academic achievements in personal financial planning, financial management and sustainable development. It helps the University nurture future elites with innovative financial thinking, building a solid talent pool.
