Dr Joe Pong Hok-ko, a graduate of the Doctor of Education (EdD) programme with a specialisation in Life and Values Education (LVE) at The Education University of Hong Kong, published two articles in the International Journal of Children’s Spirituality. The articles were based on his doctoral thesis “A Correlational Study of the Relationship between University Students’ Spiritual Well-being and Their Academic Performance”, which suggested a positive correlation between these variables.

Dr Pong thanked his supervisors, Dr Wong Ping-ho, Adjunct Associate Professor and Programme Coordinator, and Dr William Lo Yat-wai, Associate Professor at the Department of International Education and Lifelong Learning. “It is my fortune and blessing to have these two good teachers in my life. I really learned a lot from both of them, not only in academic research but also spiritual characteristics”, said Dr Pong.

EdD (LVE) is the only local doctoral programme that features values education as an area of study. The programme places special emphasis on students’ quest for meaning in life and their spiritual well-being.
