The educational trip to Zhuhai was an enriching experience that deepened my understanding of Chinese culture. One of the highlights was meeting individuals from diverse backgrounds, which fostered a sense of belonging through shared ideas and conversations. This exchange of perspectives expanded my view of the world and enhanced the learning environment.
The thoughtfully planned itinerary included visits to key historical sites like the Fisher Girl statue and the New Yuan Ming Palace, which illustrated Zhuhai's transformation into a bustling city known for its economic growth. These experiences highlighted the rapid changes China has undergone in recent decades.
Our tour guide's sensitivity to our diverse backgrounds, particularly our Muslim identities, was commendable. By taking us to local halal restaurants, he ensured we enjoyed authentic cuisine while feeling respected and valued. This consideration emphasised the importance of diversity in travel.
Additionally, engaging with locals allowed me to appreciate their hospitality and learn about their customs, enriching my understanding of community and tradition in Chinese culture.
Overall, this journey was both enjoyable and life-changing, leaving me with enduring memories and a greater understanding of China's rich cultural and historical legacy. These insights will be invaluable as I collaborate with classmates from various backgrounds and tackle future challenges.
