Research Cluster Project: Toward a Research Cluster in Clinical Linguistics
(只有英文版 English version only)
Clinical linguistics is a new research initiative at the Centre for Research on Linguistics and Language Studies (CRLLS). The Centre has obtained some external contracted projects and an internal funded project related to clinical linguistics. One of the contracts is funded by the MoocTalk Educational Technology Consultant (Shenzhen) Ltd and was completed in July 2020 on “Assessing Speech-Language Disorders in Mandarin-speaking Children”. There is an ongoing contracted project funded by the GeneScience Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd on “A system for assessing speech-language disorders in Mandarin-speaking children”.
The internal funded research cluster project aims to promote interdisciplinary collaborations in clinical linguistics, with a focus on resolving challenges arising from the language specific factors of Chinese, including both Mandarin and Cantonese. It is also the goal of this project that colleagues can transcend disciplinary boundaries and further expand their own research capacity.
The project members include Professor Cheung Hin Tat (Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies [LML]/Director of CRLLS), who is the Principal Investigator, Dr Andy Chin Chi On (Head of LML), Professor Kevin Chung Kien Hoa (Department of Early Childhood Education), Dr Lorinda Kwan-Chen Li Ying (Department of Special Education and Counselling [SEC]), Dr Albert Lee Kwing Lok (LML), Dr Liang Yuan (Department of Chinese Language Studies [CHL]), Dr Phil Liu Duo (Head of SEC), Dr Melody Pan Jinger (Department of Psychology [PS]), Dr Tong Xiuhong (PS), Dr Angus Wang Li Chih (SEC) and Dr Zhang Ling (CHL), who are the Co-Investigators.
The cluster has organised five sharing sessions so far through the scheme. The project members have taken part in presenting their expertise related to clinical linguistics.
