Visit to Cambodia for Enhancing Professional Development

In June 2023, a delegation from the Faculty of Education and Human Development (FEHD), The Education University of Hong Kong, visited Cambodia to help enhance the quality of teachers’ professional development with the Centre of Excellence in Higher Education Teaching and Learning Innovations (CEHETLI). The CEHETLI was established by EdUHK, six leading Cambodian universities, the Directorate General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, and the World Bank under the Higher Education Improvement Project.

 

Professor Lim Cher Ping, Delegation Chair and Associate Dean (International Engagement) of FEHD, met with the senior management of the six partner universities in Phnom Penh to share project updates and discuss CEHETLI’s next steps. They also explored ways to drive the enhancement teacher professional development.

 

At a workshop roadshow entitled ‘Assessment for Enhancing Quality Teaching and Learning in Higher Education in Cambodia: Principles and Practices’, more than 100 Cambodian university teachers shared their experiences and insights. Dr Norman Mendoza, post-doctoral fellow at C&I, and Ms Lynn Yang, Programme Manager of FEHD, were present to offer their perspectives on providing students with authentic and meaningful learning experiences in each university.

 

The six leading universities involved in CEHETLI are the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, National University of Battambang, Royal University of Agriculture, Royal University of Phnom Penh, Svay Rieng University and University of Heng Samrin Thbongkhmum.
