EdUHK Thanksgiving Reception

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held a reception today (24 October) to express its gratitude to the generous support extended by donors. On the same occasion, the University also recognised the awardees of the President’s Commendation Scheme (PCS).

Thanks to the unfailing support from the different sectors of the community, scholarships are awarded to outstanding students every year. In 2021/22, there were around 520 scholarships worth HK$24 million.

Officiating at the reception were Dr David Wong Yau-kar, Chairman of EdUHK Council and EdUHK Foundation, and Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, EdUHK President. Over 300 friends and supporters of EdUHK, including leading figures from the business and education sectors, as well as faculty and scholarship recipients, were in attendance.

Dr Wong said, “At EdUHK, we are committed to nurturing caring educators and professionals, who can contribute to local and national development with a global perspective. We have high expectations for our students and graduates, and we prepare them so they can excel and thrive in their respective fields, with knowledge, innovation and passion.”

Professor Cheung said, “I wholeheartedly thank all our donors for sharing our vision and supporting our students’ learning. Their generosity helps the University make further advancement, and enables needy and outstanding students to make one step closer to their dreams.”

Toby Tse Sze-ching, a PCS awardee who is on the Bachelor of Education (Honours) (English Language) programme, shared how the many learning opportunities offered by EdUHK have helped shape what she is today. With a deep affection for Cantonese Opera, she is planning to promote this artform to audiences overseas, through an online platform with the lyrics translated into English and German.

Established in December 2014, EdUHK Foundation aims to engage various sectors of the community to advance the quality of teacher education, learning and teaching, and research at the University.
