EdUHK’s 2026 Student Fair – Lunar New Year Fair Fosters Entrepreneurial Spirit and Supports Global Charities

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is hosting the 2026 Student Fair – EdUHK Lunar New Year Fair on 7 and 8 February at PMQ, Central. The event aims to nurture students’ entrepreneurial and innovative thinking while promoting sustainable development and social inclusion.

The Fair features 50 stalls, jointly operated by EdUHK students and alumni, together with students and teachers from 12 kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, and special schools. A wide range of products will be available, including creative decorations, handmade accessories, eco-friendly goods, and unique crafts created by students with special educational needs.

In line with EdUHK’s commitment to social responsibility, the Fair integrates the principles of charity and sustainability. Each stall will donate 10% of profits to local or international charitable organisations, encouraging students to embrace corporate social responsibility from an early age.  Stalls have also aligned their theme with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), demonstrating how students can generate positive social impact through entrepreneurial initiatives.

In his welcome remarks, EdUHK President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin said, “EdUHK is committed to nurturing outstanding educators and professionals. We value our students’ passion, professionalism, moral responsibility, and spirit of innovation. The Fair provides a vibrant platform that helps students cultivate entrepreneurial and innovative thinking – skills that will serve as a solid foundation for their future academic and professional journeys.” Professor Lee also expressed gratitude to all participating schools for their support and active participation in the event.

This year’s “Best Business Plan Award” was won by the “Think Big Innovation Park” stall, operated by a EdUHK student start-up. The team creatively combined AI and STEAM education with Lunar New Year cultural elements, offering activities such as AI-generated festive greeting cards, a VR Lunar New Year skiing challenge, and a New Year-themed word puzzle. Notably, 50% of their revenue will be donated to UNICEF to support global child education and humanitarian aid initiatives.

The project lead, Lee Cheuk-yin, expressed gratitude for the support received from EdUHK staff as well as the campus resources. “Through systematic training and briefing sessions, we have learned how to plan project budgets effectively, communicate our ideas clearly, and organise stall activities at large-scale student markets,” he said. “This experience has enabled us to transform creativity and educational concepts into feasible real-world projects.”

Organised by the Library and the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Education (CEIE) at EdUHK, the Fair also features a performance zone, providing students from EdUHK and local schools with a platform to showcase their talents. Performances range from traditional cultural acts, such as Chinese dance, martial arts, and a lion dance, to a variety of modern entertainment programmes, including violin and band performances. It promotes interaction and exchange among students of different age groups, and also creates a festive atmosphere, fully demonstrating EdUHK's commitment to inclusive education and social integration.
