EdUHK Partners with the HKGGA to Cultivate the Next Generation Together

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association (HKGGA) today (30 January) held a signing ceremony at EdUHK’s Tai Po campus to formally sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to jointly promote leadership training and strengthen their collaborative partnership. Witnessed by EdUHK President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, and HKGGA President Mrs Regina Leung, the MoU was signed by Professor Bill Yeung Chi-ho, EdUHK Dean of Students, and Ms Louise Ho, Chief Commissioner of HKGGA.

EdUHK is the first local university to sign an MoU with the HKGGA. This collaboration will introduce a Trainee Leader Development Programme, focusing on building leadership skills and fostering a spirit of service. The partnership will provide a wide range of training and internship opportunities, aligning with the Girl Guides’ emphasis on leadership training, teamwork, outdoor experiences, and community service — values that resonate deeply with EdUHK's commitment to holistic education and all-round student development. Today's signing marks the beginning of a promising new chapter in collaboration.

Professor John Lee Chi-Kin stated that EdUHK is committed to advancing holistic education and fostering youth development. He believes that such strong collaboration will enable both parties to leverage their respective strengths to nurture socially responsible future leaders committed to their communities and nation. As this year marks the 110th anniversary of the HKGGA, he wishes them continued success in upholding its century-old tradition of developing confident, courageous, and compassionate female leaders.

Mrs Regina Leung highlighted that the HKGGA has long been devoted to empowering girls and young women to realise their full potential and to nurturing them as outstanding leaders. She noted that EdUHK serves as a cradle for the training of professional teachers, and expressed her anticipation for closer collaboration between the two parties. Such partnership, she emphasised, will enhance the impact of non-formal education for Girl Guides, integrate expertise and resources, strengthen synergy, and contribute collectively to the building of a better society.
