Dean of Students Professor Bill Yeung Chi-ho said, “The GES shows that the EdUHK’s graduates remain competitive in the education sector despite the increasing requirements for teaching qualifications. The employment field in Education for graduates from BEd programmes has risen from 93.5% last year to 95.4% this year.”
Registrar Professor Eric Tsang Po-keung stated that, according to the second round of amendments of JUPAS programme choices, the University’s programmes remain highly sought after. Notably, the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sports Science and Coaching and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Physical Education), as well as Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Heritage Education and Arts Management and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Chinese History) have seen intense competition, with 36 and 35 applicants per available place, respectively. Professor Tsang stated that EdUHK will continue to cultivate students through diversified professional training to prepare them for a complex and ever-changing social environment.
To address growing expectations for professional teachers, all 13 existing five-year Bachelor of Education programmes at EdUHK will be revamped into Double Degree programmes, starting with the 2025/26 cohort. These programmes will enhance preservice teachers’ knowledge in both educational and non-educational disciplines, providing a stronger foundation for their future career development.
