EdUHK Mascots Debut at Global HR Forum 2025 in Seoul
The President of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, led a delegation including Assistant Vice President (Talent and Culture) Ms Cindy Cheung Yuen-lai, to Seoul, South Korea, in early November, to attend the 20th Global HR Forum 2025. Accompanying the delegation were EdUHK mascots Study Leaf and Sunny Moodle.
The forum, themed ‘The Era of Symbiotic Intelligence’, was co-organised by the Korean Ministry of Education, The Korea Economic Daily, and the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training. The forum was attended by more than 5,000 participants, featuring distinguished keynote speakers, including Mr Jim Hagemann Snabe, Chairman of Siemens, Dr Rumman Chowdhury, CEO and CO-Founder of Humane Intelligence, Ms Antonia Kim, Founder and CEO of ANTONIA and Director of AI Movie ‘Choon’, and many more. It promoted international collaboration and address major challenges in talent development.
Professor Lee was invited to be a speaker for a plenary session moderated by Dr Ko Hyewon, President of the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training, titled ‘Voyage through the Post Global Era: The Power of Human Solidarity’. In his presentation, ‘Developing Human Talents: Perspectives of Chinese Ethics, Leadership and Education’, he shared insights on how integrating Chinese ethics can cultivate individuals with strong moral foundations and the ability to adapt flexibly, enabling them to meet the complex challenges faced by today’s society and organisations. He also explained how leadership rooted in traditional virtues can serve as a moral exemplar, inspire ethical behaviour, and promote the development of a culture of integrity within organisations. He emphasised that leaders who embody virtues such as benevolence (ren), righteousness (yi), propriety (li), and filial piety (xiao) can become a driving force for positive change, holistically enhancing the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of communities and workplaces.
Building on EdUHK’s commitment to fostering a supportive and dynamic workplace, Professor Lee introduced the University’s new mascots and HRO partners, Study Leaf and Sunny Moodle, which have been designed to support staff development, engagement and well-being under the ‘Go Further Go Together’ programme.
During the panel discussion, one of the audience members were inspired by the presentation and finds the mascots to be powerful ‘small things’ that connect people, fostering solidarity across communities.
