Professor Pamela Leung joined The Education University of Hong Kong (then Hong Kong Institute of Education) in 1995. Prior to her career as a teacher educator in Chinese language, she had taught at primary, secondary and tertiary levels in Hong Kong and overseas. During her service at the University, she has been appointed as Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies & Quality Enhancement) of the then Faculty of Languages, Head of the Centre for Language in Education, and is now the Associate Dean (Quality Assurance and Enhancement) of the Faculty of Humanities.

 

Professor Leung’s areas of expertise include Chinese Linguistics and related teaching, learning and assessment strategies. She has been promoting teaching and learning in Chinese, and her participation in teaching and development projects covers topics on using assessment for learning in language classrooms, using Putonghua (Modern Standard Chinese) as the medium of instruction in teaching Chinese language in Hong Kong, teaching Chinese to non-Chinese speaking students, and promoting reading and writing in Chinese on daily life sciences and humanities.

 

Professor Leung was appointed Specialist by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications since October 2015 and served as a panel member and chair in accreditation exercises for various higher education programmes.
