Professor Eva Lau Yi-hung is a researcher in the fields of family studies and child development, with a broad range of interests including parenting, family dynamics, school transition, childhood aggression, and executive functions. She has successfully secured several competitive research grants, including those from the Early Career Scheme and the General Research Fund from the Research Grants Council. From 2021 to 2023, she led the ‘EdUHK Jockey Club School Transition and Readiness Project,’ funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. Currently, she is the Principal Investigator of KeySteps@JC Phase Two.

 

Professor Lau serves as the Associate Editor of Early Education and Development and as a Guest Editor for Developmental Psychology. She is also a member of the Editorial Boards for three international journals: Parenting: Science and Practice, Journal of Research in Childhood Education and AI, Brain and Child. She has extensive experience serving as a thesis examiner, grant reviewer, programme external examiner, and advisor for both local and overseas universities. In addition, Professor Lau is a specialist for the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications and serves a school manager for four local kindergartens.

 

In 2022/23, the team led by Professor Lau was awarded the President’s Award for Knowledge Transfer from The Education University of Hong Kong for their outstanding efforts in promoting children’s school transition. In 2024, Professor Lau was recognised as one of the World’s Top 2% Most-Cited Scientists by Stanford University.
