Professor Kuo Chia-hua received his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin and specialises in sports nutrition and human metabolism. His research explores how exercise-induced cellular damage in human skeletal muscle is transformed into long-term health benefits, including enhanced physical performance, improved body composition and healthy longevity. He places particular emphasis on the role of nutritional factors in modulating the reparative mechanisms that drive muscle regeneration.
Professor Kuo has published more than 300 peer-reviewed journal articles (Scopus ID: 26660722900). Several of his recent studies have received international media coverage, including features on Quirks and Quarks (CBC Radio), Longevity.Technology, and Fight Aging!. His work has also been listed in the NASA Spaceline Current Awareness List. His invited theoretical paper on the fat-loss effects of exercise has contributed to a paradigm shift in the conventional understanding of fat metabolism.
Professor Kuo has held several academic leadership positions, including Honorary President of the Asian Nutrition Society for Sports and Health, Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, and Founding President of the Taiwan Society for Sports Nutrition. In recognition of his contributions to research and education, he has been appointed Distinguished Professor at the University of Taipei, Chair Professor at Soochow University (China), Honorary Professor at the University of Jordan, Honorary Professor at Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), World-Class Professor in Indonesia, and Visiting Professor in the Department of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Parma (Italy). He has also served as Dean of Research and Development and Dean of the College of Kinesiology at the University of Taipei. He currently serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine and Editor-in-Chief of Academia Nutrition and Dietetics.
