Prior to joining The Education University of Hong Kong (the then Hong Kong Institute of Education), Cheng Sheung-Tak was Professor in Psychology in the Department of Applied Social Studies, City University of Hong Kong. He is a distinguished scholar in Community Psychology and Gerontology with many publications in top academic journals of the field, and an active researcher with a strong record in securing external research grants. He serves on the editorial board of Psychology and Aging and GeroPsych: The Journal of Gerontopsychology and Geriatric Psychiatry. He is a member of the Working Group on Active Aging, a subcommittee of the Elderly Commission.
