EdUHK Signs MoUs and Establishes Higher Education Strategic Alliance with Nine Vietnamese Universities
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) delegation visited Vietnam from 21 to 24 August. During the visit, the University signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) and announced the establishment of a strategic alliance on higher education with nine leading Vietnamese institutions, including Vietnam National University (VNU) Hanoi–University of Languages and International Studies (VNU–ULIS), VNU Hanoi–University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU–USSH), VNU Hanoi–University of Education (VNU–UED), VNU Hanoi–Institute of Digital Education and Testing (VNU–IDT), National Academy of Education Management (NAEM), Phenikaa University (PU), and The University of Danang (UD).
On the same occasion, EdUHK signed the Memorandum of Agreement on Student Exchange with two member universities of UD, namely the University of Science and Education (UD–UED), and the University of Foreign Language Studies (UD–UFLS), creating tangible opportunities for student exchange. This reciprocal initiative is designed to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning within the academic sector.
Capitalising on its strategic position as one of the premier regional leaders in pedagogical innovation and educational technology, EdUHK will spearhead knowledge transfer and capacity-building frameworks, advance responsible AI and machine-learning capability, nurture educators and researchers, and enhance regional visibility on educational development under the EdUHK–Vietnam Higher Education Strategic Alliance. The alliance is expected to generate significant regional impact, elevating the international competitiveness of Vietnamese higher education and setting a benchmark for sustainable digital transformation and academic excellence across Southeast Asia.
EdUHK President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin stated, “This alliance reflects the University’s steadfast commitment to driving educational innovation beyond borders. By synergising our expertise in educational technology and institutional benchmarking with our esteemed partners in Vietnam, we aim to co-create a future-ready academic ecosystem that empowers institutions to thrive on the global stage.”
During the visit, EdUHK hosted two thematic workshops. Professor Ferrante Neri, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and Chair Professor of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, led one on artificial intelligence and machine learning; while Mr Jesse Xiao Sizhe, Director of the Office of Institutional Development and Research, hosted another one on university rankings. Multiple senior management members from VNU Hanoi attended the event.
