EdUHK and LMU Sign MoU to Strengthen International Academic Collaboration

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 7 October at EdUHK, marking a significant milestone in developing a strategic partnership between the two universities. The signing ceremony, held immediately after the international symposium jointly organised by the two institutions on 6 October—“EdUHK-LMU Joint Symposium—Engaging Learners in Sustainability: Exploring Socio-Scientific and Environmental Challenges”—further underscores their commitment to collaboration in teaching, research and academic exchange.

The MoU was signed by Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, President of EdUHK, and Professor Dr Ralf Ludwig, Chief Sustainability Officer and Professor in Environmental Modelling at LMU. The agreement reaffirms the two institutions' shared commitment to advancing international academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Under the MoU, EdUHK and LMU will explore opportunities for cooperation in areas including joint research projects, academic exchange, conferences and seminars, and other mutually beneficial academic and educational activities. The partnership is expected to strengthen connections among faculty members, researchers and students of both universities, while fostering impactful collaborative initiatives.

During their visit to Hong Kong, the LMU delegation engaged in a series of academic exchange activities and discussions with EdUHK colleagues. These interactions gave scholars from both institutions valuable opportunities to identify common research interests and explore potential areas for future cooperation.

As one of Germany's leading research universities, LMU enjoys a strong international reputation for excellence in research and teaching. The MoU further extends EdUHK's global network of academic partners and supports the University’s strategic commitment to internationalisation, interdisciplinary scholarship and sustainable development.

The two universities look forward to developing collaborative initiatives that contribute to addressing educational, social and environmental challenges through research, innovation and academic exchange.
