I invite prospective and current RPg students to reach out if you would like to explore your research interests or academic directions. My work in bi- and multilingualism, language assessment, and equitable language in education practices is informed by extensive experience in Canada and international collaborations.

I involve students in all stages of empirical research, including school-based fieldwork, data generation, knowledge dissemination, and preparation of scholarly publications. Current projects explore innovative approaches to evaluating multilingual learners’ competencies and academic language socialisation, focusing on student self-assessment and the use of GenAI mediated tools in K–12 and post-secondary contexts. I welcome opportunities to discuss how your interests may intersect with these areas and look forward to supporting your development as emerging researchers.

Publications from my recent work appear in several edited books and journals, including Canadian Modern Language Review, Language Assessment Quarterly, TESL Canada Journal, European Journal of Teacher Education, and TESOL Quarterly. I co-edited the book Plurilingual Pedagogies: Critical and Creative Undertakings for Equitable Language (in) Education (Lau & Van Viegen, 2020) and served as Editor in Chief of the international journal Critical Inquiry in Language Studies (2020-2025).
