Prof Angel Ma Honoured with the President’s Awards for Outstanding Performance in Research 2024/25

Prof Angel Ma, Associate Professor from the Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages, has been awarded the prestigious President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Research 2025. Renowned for her groundbreaking work in second-language acquisition and technology-enhanced language education, Prof Ma’s research spans areas such as computer-assisted language learning, mobile-assisted language learning, corpus linguistics, and AI in language education.

Her work explores how technology influences second language learning, focusing on both cognitive and social dimensions. Over the past five years, Prof Ma has built a formidable research portfolio, securing two General Research Fund grants as Principal Investigator. In the past five years, she has published 74 refereed works, including high-impact journal articles, book chapters, and edited volumes.

Prof Ma also exemplifies leadership in academia. She serves as Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies) in the Faculty of Humanities at EdUHK, and holds roles in international journals and professional bodies, including Deputy Director of the Computer-Assisted Language Learning Association, Beijing. Her influence on education policy and global research is reflected in her advisory roles and international conference leadership.
