The Faculty of Humanities (FHM) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) organised a ‘Mentorship Scheme Sharing Session’ on 27 March 2026, at its Tai Po campus. The event brought together recipients of various faculty awards to share their experiences and insights, demonstrating the Faculty's commitment to supporting professional development and its vision of promoting cross-departmental collaboration and the diverse advancement of humanities scholarship.

Prof Leung Pui-wan Pamela, Acting Dean, delivered the opening remarks. She emphasised that this was a valuable opportunity for faculty members to connect, learn, and support one another. The wisdom and experiences shared would be inspiring for colleagues at all career stages, and she called on everyone to work together in fostering a supportive and inclusive academic environment.

The session gathered five award recipients from different disciplines to share insights on research, knowledge transfer, teaching, and student care. In the area of research, Dr Liang Yuan from the Department of Chinese Language Studies, recipient of the ‘Dean's International Research Collaboration Award 2024/2025’, shared experiences and outcomes from her collaboration with Vietnamese partner institutions. She advised early-career scholars to leverage various university research funds and existing international memorandums of understanding to initiate cross-regional academic collaborations. In knowledge transfer, Dr Leung Chi-hin from the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts, recipient of the ‘Faculty Research and Knowledge Transfer Award Scheme 2024/2025’, illustrated the complete lifecycle of knowledge transfer through his award-winning e-Orch music project. He emphasised the importance of building an ecosystem rather than merely a product to maintain sustainable project development.

In teaching and student care, Mr Sy Wai-nok from the Department of Literature and Cultural Studies, awardee of the ‘Caring Teacher Commendation Scheme 2024/2025’, shared his caring pedagogy and writing pedagogy that emphasises student observation, reflection, and peer evaluation. He also discussed how creative writing camps enhance students' interest in creative expression. Dr Jin Mengyao from the Department of Chinese Language Studies, awardee of the ‘Faculty Teaching Award 2024/2025’, demonstrated experiential ‘learning by walking’ through a pilot patriotic education programme as an example. EdUHK is the first among Hong Kong's eight universities to launch such a programme. Dr Cheung Tsz-mei from the same department and award category compared traditional Chinese language teaching with AI-enabled 21st-century approaches, sharing how her innovative teaching methods—including drama in education and extended reality picture book storytelling—enrich students' learning experiences.

In her closing remarks, Prof Leung emphasised the Faculty's commitment to providing abundant resources to support staff development. This cross-departmental exchange represents an important practice in advancing the Faculty's mission. She expressed hope that through peer experience sharing, innovative thinking would be sparked, collectively enhancing the Faculty's teaching and research quality.
